I got my dealer to repair mine OUT OF WARRANTY for a $100 copay on my part. Car was over 1 year out of warranty with 33k miles. Made my case as it was a safety issue and I didn't feeel safe driving the car. This approach worked for me and several others on the corvette forum. The "General" came through, believe it or not.
