Some warranty items done today..

Dropped off the Z at the dealer today (Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose). Had the following done to it:

1) LOF (I brought my own Mobil 1 5W-30 and oiil filter and they charged me $25 for labor

2) roof panel recall. This is recall #05112 "Pained Roof Separation". It now affects all C6Z's. Visible, aside from fingerprint smudges on the roof, you can't really tell what was done, but the parts qty on the service order says the following:

Qty 1 p/n 88861400 Adhesive
Qty 10 p/n 11561612 bolt (wonder what the bolts are for?)
Here's the pic of the recall tag

3) rear end TSB. It was chattering a lot. They drained and flushed the rear end and replaced the gear lube (Qty 2 p/n 89021677) and limited slip additive (Qty 1 p/n 1052358). I could immediately hear a difference (no more noise!). Hard to believe all that noise was the rear end! It was chattering more than my 4-year old after a bowl of ice cream.

4) AND I FINALLY GOT THE ASHTRAY DOOR FIXED!!!! It finally stays shut now! What an annoying 7 months of having to deal with that thing constantly flipping open when I hit the slightest bump in the road. BTW, they did not have to remove/replace the entire console trim to fix it. All they did was remove the ashtray door itself (using a flat-head screwdriver...I did it myself...its easy) and they replaced the following two parts:

Qty 1 p/n 10324612 Latch
Qty 1 p/n 10324613 Dampener

I only had to pay for the labor on the LOF.

BTW, interestingly enough, I left my V1 in the car (mounted on the rearview mirror)

I told the service writer that I'm leaving it in there and didn't want remove it simply because it was somewhat of a pain to "aim" (but not mount). I turned it all the way off.

When I picked up the car, it only had 0.5 miles on it (just enough for the drive around the block after the LOF and rear end work), but the V1 was turned on (and the volume was all the way down).

Curious tech, I guess.
