Re: First time doing a HPDE, should I get race brake pads?

If you are running on street tires, then there is little advantage to "race" pads. They will lock the tires to quickly, which is bad for a number of reasons.
I would concentrate on fluids. Engine, transmission, rearend, brakes and clutch. I try to change engine oil before and after an event.
Bleed your brakes before and after event. During, if you get them hot. If your pedal gets spongy, you need to bleed.
Pay close attention to your tires after arriving at the track. Adjust your tire pressure and inspect for nails. I found a screw in my tire after driving only 4 miles to the track. I was lucky to find it before I went on the track.
There is much more prep you can do. Do a search for "track prep," or ask away.
