It could be a lot worse. Maybe I was lucky being in special ops and being an aircrew member, but my military job was great and the people I worked with were fantastic. I miss being excited about work. I really miss being responsible for life and death decisions.
Now I work for a county. No standards, no supervisors, no morals, no vision, no training, no currency, no proficiency, no professional development, no personal development. The only standard is to do the absolute minimum possible. Oh, there are some of those things for certain people(except the morals) if you're in the right group of good ol boys. It's pretty much - fill that spot, sit in your hole and shut the hell up, if we like you we might let you do something in a few years. Try that for a while. You'll want to puke.
Be glad you are counted on to do a great job, and that you have the opportunity to do great things. Like I said, it could be a lot worse.
