i'm so late to the party on this that its sad. I didn't even realize it existed until after I bought a Z06, and thats the plain & simple truth of it.
So its too late for me to strike a handhsake deal with some stealer somewhere or leverage whatever i've boughten or anything, and its either pay up or not drive the thing...
And for everybody paying big $$ for an '09, my big question is "when do i get it". A car arriving in 2 months -vs- 12 months? Kind of a big difference there in terms of what its worth. In 12 mos I imagine someone will be getting their '08 for $150k while someone else is browsing a dozen availalbe '09s on ebay for $120k...
A guy could take $100k in depreciation quick on a ZR1 if things go wrong... and that isn't sounding like too much fun.
Still, to have the "it" vehicle when "it" was "the thing" would be fun at least once in a guys life.
What do you want to tell your grandkids when you're 60 or 70? (this is honest to god how I make alot of decisions). That you had a ZR1 when they were new... or that you had a ZR1... is there a difference? Does it matter?
I got nothing on this one, but i'd sure pay $20k over MSRP and not think about it much... $70k over... not as sure.
