Either way you would probably be ok, but if it was my car I would change the oil. I figure fresh oil is cheap insurance and it is for sure not going to hurt anything. I'm pretty picky about oil so I pay attention to miles the oil has AND how long the oil has been in the engine...oil does break down and age (it gets way more detailed/technical than that, but I'm sure someone with way more knowledge will jumb in). I never hit the mile mark for changing oil, but I usually change mine every 6 months give or take...usually when it starts getting real cold and when it starts getting real hot outside. Again, that is probably excessive.
