That's people drinking the Jiffy Lube Kool Aid ... 3k mile change intervals.
For "normal" driving and "normal" cars ... if people followed the maker's recommendations ... should be 7.5k mi or more interval - or based on oil life indicator (commonly up to 12k miles)
But ... we on this Forum are not "normal" :pp: ... so the more anal of us err on the side of more frequent changes ... and many do it themselves ... leading to many posts on the long-running thread "Lifting for Oil Changes" ... :bang:
