Re: What tires should I get for my Z06?
Can I make a suggestion?
When you add a tire to this thread, please include sizes and the Uniform Tire Quality Grade (UTQG) information and how the car is driven (i.e. daily driver or not). The tire you select needs to suit how the car is to be driven.
Examples (based on 295/35R18) of UTQG information:
OEM:
Goodyear: F1 Supercar: 280-AA-A
Road Tires:
Firestone: Firehawk Wide Oval: 320-AA-A
Nitto: NT555: 300-A-A
Bridgestone: Potenza RE050A RFT: 280-AA-A
Dunlop: SP Sport Maxx GT: 240-AA-A
Kumho: Ecsta MX: 220-AA-A
Michellin: Pilot Sport PS2: 220-AA-A
Nitto: Invo & NT05: 220-AA-A
BFGoodrich: G-Force Sport: 200-AA-A
Yokohana: Advan Sport: 180-AA-A
Road/Track Tires:
Nitto: NT555"R": 100-A-A
Toyo: Proxes R888: 100-AA-A
Competition:
Kumho: Ecsta V710: 30-C-A
Generally a tire with a lower number will have a higher grip level and shorter life.
A street tire for a car that will be tracked is a waste of time. Similarly, a DoT slick will be hopeless in the rain, but will stick like $hit to a blanket in the dry, and then there are run flats... So many options!
I drive my C5Z 1 or 2 days a week, and plan to "track it" soon. I don't want a run-flat (I will get it towed if I get a flat) and I am not really interested in wet weather performance (as I don't drive it in the rain). Hence my choice: Toyo R888s.
Just my 2c...
(My apologies if are any errors in the above, I took them from many sources, so there may be some "cut and paste" errors.)
