If he is going to open it up and do a head and cam change, I would go with the one that he gets the best price on. Most 01s do NOT consume oil. Even if he buys an 01 that dos show oil consumption, he can leverage that for a better price. He can then do the ring work when he has the engine open for the head & cam work.
