I agree with 2001Z06 in that, if you are going to get inside the engine you might want to fix the rings yourself.
As for the statistics, the oil consumption poll indicates that 51.01% of all z06s burn at least a quert of oil every 3k miles. I think the statistics might have been different if the poll were limited to '01 Z06s.
