I seriously disagree that we were all led to believe anything of the sort.
Everything, and I mean everything, you read on here is just an internet rumor until it's actually announced by GM. Much of it is going to be way off the mark, even when it's posted by people claming to have "inside information" and "reliable sources". I work in a different industry but one in which people pay attention to our future products. And let me tell you, many people post very authoritative sounding things to web forums when in fact they have no idea whatsoever what they're talking about.
I'm not saying all the rumors on here are wrong. Some of them might well be the truth, or close to it. Maybe it really will be <3000 lbs. But it's all just rumors at this point!
Besides, my inside sources inform me that GM is actually going to outsource production of the new Z out to Hyundai and it will look like a slightly modified Tiburon. If I get a few other people to post this too, you can then consider yourself led to believe the Vette will look like a Tiberon and be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't :-)
