While a relatively high C6Z price may hold up our C5 prices a bit, it will only be a small effect and will be short lived. The argument that it is better than a std C6 is only true this year. They had to "hold back" the LS2/std C6, in order to sell remaining C5's. I bet next year will see the LS2 at 425hp and any performance gap to the C5Z will be gone (......and so will this "hold up the C5Z price" argument).
Now that the technical details are mostly public, everyone is whining about the $75K M/T "price". This is just someone's guess. I believe that Rick D was right and we will see a $59.9 base price and around $65-67K loaded. This gives GM about a $15K premium for the Z over the std model. This is a much higher incremental price than we experienced with the std C5 vs C5Z (was only about $8K extra). I believe that this will cover the incremental costs of the upgrades and still deliver profit margin.
FWIW.
