I’m not an expert at drag racing, but it makes sense that your tires have to keep up with the power output. No traction = slower time.

Exactly.
800+ RWHP & Torque is useless on street tires.
You need at least a E/T street to have any resemblence of traction from 2nd gear and up. I'd suspect even D/R's are not up to the task.
You might as well be driving on ice with that kind of power on street tires.
Put on E/T Streets on that TT Vette, and sub 2 sec 0-60's would be common.
