street race - my Z06 vs modded trans am

i got into a street race on friday with a newer type firebird trans am. it was at least a 1998 or newer with the LS1 engine. i came up from behind him on a big major 3 lane wide road per side here in my home town of tucson. i noticed his liscense plate said "turboed". i thought to myself i got to race this car. we pace each other side by side for a mile or so at a slow speed of like 45 mph with the engines revved up in lower gears. when we got to the stop light i asked him if he had a turbo and he said not yet that the kit was on order and he was still waitin for it. i could tell his engine was way modded despite the fact that he didn't have his turbo kit yet because i could tell from how loud the exhaust was and the lope in the camshaft at idle, etc. my car has intake and exhaust mods with lS1 edit that netted me 377 rwhp and 368 rwtq.

anyway, as we pulled away from the light with traffic in front of us we drove slow as to give us enough room to do a roll on race up to the traffic ahead as they got farther away. from a 30 mph roll (i was in 1st gear) we punched it and i beat him by just about 5 feet as we hit 75 mph and had to slow down for the traffic in front of us. as we got to the next light we did the same thing again except this time we went from a 45 mph roll and i was in 2nd gear. he got the jump on me just ever so slightly and held the 3 foot advantage he had on me up to 90 mph when again we had to shut down due to traffic. i believe he had a automatic because i could swear i heard a high stall converter wind up when he got on it.

when we got to the next traffic light in the middle of tons of traffic this motorcycle cop pulls up right alongside my passenger window and points his finger at me and shakes his head. he then just shoots across 3 lanes and goes over to the trans am and pulls him over and writes him a ticket for who knows what. i didn't stick around to find out. i just got the hell out of there. more than likely he wrote the guy up for speeding but you never know he might have written the guy up for drag racing.

the speed limit of the road we were on was 50 mph. hopefully the cop did not get my liscense plate info or they might be able to hit me up with a ticket via mail. since he was on a motorcycle i kinda doubt he got my plate down cause he would either have to have a mic hooked up to his helmet and call it in or he would have to remember it and write it down when he pulled over. something makes me think he didn't get my plate, but i could be wrong.
