As if it couldn’t any better. It looks like the new Z06 makes a lot more than 505HP!!!
From the “WE HEAR” section of this month’s (Nov-2005) Motor Trend:
“Chevrolet’s new 7.0-liter Corvette Z06 makes more than the advertised 505 horsepower…much more. Rumor is it makes up to 550 horses, which would explain its astonishing performance at the Nurburgring’s Nordschliefe. The downside, maybe, is that it would make the supercharged Blue Devil, which GM has never admitted is under development, superfluous. The blown engine also would power the Cadillac CTS-v+, so if the Blue Devil is canceled, so is the Caddy…”
Also, this month’s Motor Trend test of the new Viper Coupe, and last month’s Motor Trend Z06 test, yields the following:
0-60 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 4.2 sec
Z06: 3.5 sec
0-100 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 9.4 sec
Z06: 7.3 sec
¼ Mile
SRT10 Coupe: 12.2 sec / 118.0 MPH
Z06: 11.5 sec / 127.1 MPH
60-0 MPH
SRT10 Coupe: 111 ft
Z06: 104 ft
Motor Trend acknowledges that this Viper was slower than expected. It’ll be interesting when they do a head-to-head test.
