1/4 mile times vs. regular coupe

Anyone have 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a stock FRC from '99 and/or '00 as compared to a coupe from the same years?

I am interested to see how much difference the 6 spd and the numerically higher rear end makes in these times.

Thanks.

Damn good times. I can't wait to get my car. It is supposed to be here today! I can hardly wait. The lighter weight really does make a difference.

I think plus how rigid the solid body makes our cars help a lot as well. Post up pics of the new ride. CONGRATS!

FRC's are about 0.1 quicker, due to less weight.

This is what I ran, first time ever on the track.....ZERO experience.....

Today was the dawn to a new era. At approximatley 0600 hours, I woke to get ready for my first experience at the track. (1/4 Mile times). We arrived about 8:50 am to Southwestern International Raceway (SIR), Tucson, AZ. First launch was just about 10:00 am. Barometer was 28.70 if that means anything. To keep this simple, I broke down worst and best times. Remember, THIS IS MY VERY FIRST VISIT ON A TRACK. EVER! I was nervous.....But in the end it was awesome!

2000 FRC 6M

Worst R/T = .527
Best R/T = .014 (No Shyt! And this was my 4th launch)

Worst 60' = 2.33
Best 60' = 2.009

Worst 1/4 Mile = 13.995 (My first launch at 10:26 am)
Best 1/4 Mile = 13.373 (My 6th and last launch)

Slowest MPH = 104.16 (4th Launch)
Fastest MPH = 109.09 (1st Launch)

Of 6 passes, I lost one race. (To a sooped up Firebird that nearly rattled some teeth out of my head at the staging line) What a total BS line-up) 5 Kills though to include a Z06! So, my stock C5 isn't THAT bad.....

Some embarrasing moments.....

When I raced the Z06, I got nervous and pulled a RED LIGHT launch. R/T was a -1.156. But, I still beat him by 1/4 Mile times and top speeds.

Mine: 13.474 @ 107.99
His: 13.773 @ 105.44

Currently, I have the Supermax Headers and B & B Bullets installed. Haven't been to the track yet. So, not sure on the numbers.....

Glad you had a good time. Early on in your 1/4 mile track experience, I don't feel it's a good idea to get caught up in your R/T or whether you won or lost your races...My last time out I had a R/T of 2.4 seconds because they were starting the tree as soon as I staged! I lost to a WRX, but who cares! I was there to work on my 60' times, which varied by about only .06 from best to worst!
Concentrate more on your launch technique perfection being consistent & your shift points & shifting speed...Once you nail down the previous, then you could start to worry about R/T... There's just too much to worry about when you 1st start racing... Just my $.02 worth.
Enjoy!
Ron

While I have no timeslips to prove my theory, I am fairly confident that my 2000 FRC is much quicker than my previous 98 auto coupe(3.15). My 98 had a blackwing and borla stingers and ran good, but my FRC seems to be much quicker. It seems to have more power throughout the RPM range. The only mod is a Corsa Touring exhaust system. I guess it may be the lighter weight and shifting the gears manually. But I do think the FRC is faster. Just my 2 cents worth.

I finally got somemore seat time in the FRC and I will have to say it gets more impressive everytime I drive the car. I dare say this car would give my modded 91 ZR1 a run for it's money from 0-60. Now on the freeway the FRC probably would have not fared to well against the ZR1. And the FRC is alot more balanced than the ZR1. The ZR1 tended to be a little nose heavy and the front end would push. The FRC is a very good handling car. A good all around combination of performance.

99 Frc 1/4?

What do most 99 FRC's run with K&N fresh air intake. No mufflers and Stock Z06 rims & tires? Me and a friend tried the stop watch thing with him saying go and running the stop watch, 6 runs to 100 mph If I can hook up it will take right around 10 sec to 100 is this about right for these cars? 1st gear 52 mph 2nd gear 76 mph 3rd gear at red line 100 mph. Mine has never been to a track and I know that thats the only real time that counts but I'm just asking.
