FRC prices at auction

I had a friend in the car business pull some numbers for me on prices in the last 30 days at TX auto auctions for FRCs.

Avr price for a '99 FRC was $17.6k (although these cars had pretty high mileage in the 60-70k range). Highest price was $19.1k.

By menas of comparision, '99 coupes averaged about $2k more at auction with similar mileage.

Thoughts on this? For those who might consider selling soon, it seems that prices are dropping fast.

Folks are gearing up for the C6. The price drops are pretty much like what happened when the C5 first came out. It will bottom out eventually, then either stay at a level or maybe, in the case of the FRC, go up a bit. I don't look for it to ever be a major collector item however.

Does your friend have a dealer license? If so, then the auction that he went to is only open to dealers, not the general public. I don't think that the prices you listed are acurate in regards to how much a person off the street pays for the car. I did a search on autotrader and there is a 99 FRC with 76K going for 22,000. I just really don't think that the value is going down as fast as everyone thinks it is. Just my .02
