Right now I am trying to decide which one to get. I just lost my SS due to a fire. My 408ci SuperStroker is still good. The only issue is it is iron and I do not know how much that would affect the ride. I do twisties locally, but not very often. My SS weighed in over 3600lbs and I would think a FRC or Z06 would be much lighter even with an iron block. Not to still the thread, but what do you guys think?

As long as it is a fixed roof coupe of any variety you will love it. They're all great cars with the right look. I don't mind the extra sound you hear in my Z because it's a pretty darned nice sound! I could do without a radio in this car!

The FRC and Z06 are pretty similar to drive on a day to day basis. If you're comparing power- there really isnt much to compare unless you're gonna really modify both cars severely and then its just a shell.

The Z06 has a few more luxo features and neat things here and there. And for power, A friend of mine has a 99 FRC w/ Intake, Ported LS6 Intake Manifold, Exhaust and a shifter, and I pull on him pretty easily in my bone stock Z06.

I say Z06 if you can afford it.

I drive my '04 FRC to work every day. The 405 horse is too much fun to drive. I take more back roads so my mileage is around 20 mpg. Life is too short to leave a ride like that in the garage.

Agreed 100%. In the last 3 years, I've put 40k+ on my 99 FRC. Drive it quite a bit. Took it to Kansas City a month or so ago and got 36.something mpg driving at 80+ mph. Yesterday, took it on a tour of Missouri's fine wineries and the backroad tour. It's fun to drive any way, shape or form for me.

FRC versus Z06

I just bought a 99 FRC with only 14k miles on it, to go along with my 2003 EB A4 Coupe. The FRC is so much fun - not sure I will keep the A4. May not keep the FRC either as I might just have to have the C6 Z!!!! You are right - my FRC is completely stock except for the 1st 4th bypass, and as a low mileage car in a year when sales of this type vehicle sales were low, ....HECK yeah I will mod it.... (but I'll keep all the original stuff!!!!) FRC's forever. I hoped that Chevy would continue a different roofline fot eh C6 Z but looks like ti will be a fastback/hatch. Too bad. Maybe I'll opt to sell the 03 coupe and and get an 03 or 04 Z!!!
