OK, fellas...

Cap'n Hook is back for more advice from my bretheren...

OK, my left headlamp gear is out as it makes this obscene grinding noise once the lamps are off and fully inside the bay. I purchased a headlamp repair kit from Top-Downsolutions.com to just go ahead and repair both sides. The local Corvette dealership quoted $160 labor per side...$360 to install the kit.

Question #1) IS THIS AN EASY DO-IT-YOURSELF REPAIR? (For clarification I admit that I am not a gearhead...not helpless or completely clueless either though)

Question #2) After I started experiencing these headlamp issues the headlamps now popup when I turn the knob one click to turn on just the foglamps??? (Usually it's 2 clicks of course to "pop up" the headlamps) One click and the foglamps still operate, but now the headlamps popup although they are not lit? WHAT IS THE DEAL HERE?

Thanks in advance for the assistance fellas...Let me know! Thanks.

Best,
HOOK

I would love to help you out but I swaped my headlights out for the Specter Werkes C5R headlights.

a headlight gear repair kit is usually pretty straight forward... the headlights popping up at different switch positions could be due to the worn gears as well, and the motor not winding/unwinding completely. just my educated guess, gathering from the nearly identical headlight motors/gears on my previous 95 transam. danged pop ups!
