I'm not sure this is the right place, but here goes anyway. I've just started looking at a red 1963 convertible with black top and black interior. The owner sent me 30 or so beautiful pictures and described the car as follows:
"Mechanically very strong, 327/300 HP but now pushing 325 HP to the rear wheels after rebuild by Rev Racing. A couple of small paint blemishes. Matching #s , 4 speed, original rebuilt radio, knock offs… Very good and clean driver"
I don't have a price yet, but the pictures are stunningly beautiful. It looks great. It is stored for the winter several hundred miles away so I haven't seen it or driven it yet. It looks like a show car although the drivers seat covering looks like the material might have stretched because it's wrinkled.
Assuming it's just a beautiful driver as described above, what is it worth as a starting point? If it is realistically priced, what's likely the lowest and highest price? I'm looking for a range. If Seller is realistic and if it is in my financial ballpark then I can get more info. If it starts off nuts, I'll just drop the whole thing. Thanks for any info
Prices are very subjective and depend greatly on the quality of the restoration. I have a friend here that paid $65K last summer for a similarly equipped '65 coupe. The car is stunning.
I'm going to take a wild azz guess here, since it is a numbers matching car and a 327/300 which is one step above the base engine, I'm going to say $50 to $65k. Now if it was a coupe you would be looking at quite a bit more.
One question, does he have a removeable hardtop for it? That would add to the value some.

I don't yet know any of the options. I just know the pictures are something else. It will be several weeks before owner gets to where car is stored. All his records are there. Once he's reviewed what he's got in the car-engine rebuilt etc, he'll give me a price. Right now I'm working at not appearing tooooo anxious. Not all of these cars that old even had power steering or power brakes. Atleast it's got a 4 speed. Stay tuned.
I have a little over 40K in it with the engine rebuild, carb rebuild, radio rebuild, brakes, alignment and such, not counting routine maintenance. So, the number is 40K. The difficulty is getting you the opportunity to inspect it and drive it. We may be flying that way in the next couple of weeks and you could jump in if you want. The vehicle is stored at our hangar at the ______ Airport so arrangements are pretty easy. Also have a 1972 Chevy 4x4 SWB pickup that is the last year of that body design. New 350 crate engine and very sweet to look at. The pickup is stored in town here. My near 15 year old Lab is not for sale.
Will have to get back to you with specifics. This much I know. At least one new paint job with original Riverside red paint. Soft top only—black. Must have been new when I acquired vehicle. Top still looks new. No power steering or brakes. I’m not aware any clutch or transmission work but given the age of the vehicle I would be shocked if the clutch is original. Transmission is original. Last summer had everything checked out including clutch and transmission. Prior owner was _______. He bought the car for his wife. Before that a pastor in _______ owned it for years. Have to look but total miles in the neighborhood of 112K with maybe 3K or less on the engine rebuild. Never wrecked to my knowledge. I’m guessing I have owned it for the last 7 or 8 years but will need to check.

Atta boy Mike, you've got my back. It didn't make any sense to me either but I was thinking what you put in writing.
Regarding the car, I am advised that I can get it but I have to sell my Z. One Corvette at a time says the wife. I can't see me getting rid of the Z so if anyone is interested in this car, I can put you in contact with the owner.
