For the fourth year in a row, I will be leading a group up to the Maker's Mark Distillery on Thursday morning, September 11, 2008. This is a free road tour that is not your average scenic road tour. For those that do not know, WART stands for Wild A$$ Road Tour, I like to call our little jaunt throught the country side a "blurry" road tour.
This road tour will leave from in front of the Baymont Hotel, the Z06Fest host hotel. We will leave at 8:00 am for the 1:45 minute drive to the distillery. I have the distillery expecting our arrival around 10:45 am EST (the distillery is in the Eastern time zone, BG is in the Central time zone)
Along the way we will get to experiences some great back country roads, which will be traversed in a spirited manner. This is not for the faint of heart.
Once at the distillery, tours of the facility will be available, they also have a wonderful gift shop, and within the next two weeks they will be opening a restaraunt on site that we might want to have lunch at. I will look into that as we get closer to the event.
One thing to know, this event will NOT appear on the Offical NCM Z06Fest agenda. This event is sponsored and run by Z06Vette.com and the NCM refuses to put it on the official event agenda due to liability reasons.
Please understand that there will be a Thursday morning NCM sponsored road tour that will conflict with the Maker's Mark WART Road Tour. The decision is yours as to which type of road tour you wish to participate in.
There is nothing you have to do to sign up for this event, simply show up out in front of the Baymont Hotel about 7:40, we will hold a brief driver's meeting at 7:45 am and then we will leave sharply at 8:00 am. Directions will be given to every driver in case they somehow get separated from the group so that you can still rejoin us at the distillery.
I look forward to scaring the crap out of some of you again this year, there is nothing better than following a blind albino through winding country roads at high speed...

Maybe we should all drive blindfolded this year to even things out a bit

Re: 2008 Z06Fest - Makers mark WART Road Tour
Besides my Friends, MM, Sliders, this is one of the main reasons I go to the FEST!!!!
WILD AZZ ROAD TOUR AT TRIPLE THE SPEED LIMIT!!!!
This is what memories are made of!!!
There is no substitute. Drive it like you stole it or sell it!
My personal opinion is that if you do not go on this road tour and experience this exciting ride in the countryside with 50 of your brothers and sisters then...why did you buy this Z anyway....
This is my opinion and not of the site...As many of you know I do not mince words. I say what is on mind. Depends on which voice is speaking at the time.

you know what would be bad a$$, if the local cops would shut down the roads the wart tour uses, i don't speed because i don't want to afford the tickets, or risk jail time. but if i was promised no tickets i'd let it rip.
has there ever been a problem with the cops in bg during the fest? are they just waiting for someone to speed so they can make some money?

forgive my ?'s i'm an information leech so to speak. i like to know as much about a subject as i can when going into something new. (except for the 5 years i spent at college)
Generally, and the Queen can tell a slightly different story, the cops in BG are pretty cool. For the first 5 years of the Fest we had the cops called on us at one point or another, for various things, it was sort of a badge of honor.
That streak broken last year, when there were no incidents warranting the police. No one has ever been arrested, although it was close a couple of times.
Generally folks keep it relatively mild around BG, the occasional quick run to the NCM on I-65, but nothing outrageous. Of course I say that and last year on the way back from MM we got into it with a small import and we ended up letting off pretty close to top end.
The first part of the trip is 60 miles or so up I-65, which we will do at between 70-80, I am not looking to draw too much attention out there. Once we get off the highway, there are spots in pretty desolate areas where we can open it up quite a bit and have some fun, but as soon as we hit any of the four little towns we go through on the way to the distillery, we take it down to the speed limit. The last thing I want is to have anyone get hurt.
Everyone that goes on the tour will also have a set of directions with them so that if they feel uncomfortable with the speed we are driving they can take it down to where they are comfortable and meet us at the distillery.
ALLRIGHTY!!! Another tour through the cornfields!!! Mark....still pulling stalks from underneath your chassis?
And Les...Mikey is a Drag King? Bout time he came outta the closet! Wondered why he was hanging out with all those studly muffin MCRacing guys!
