Nice to have the horse power, but in their endeavor to capture the European market, a European design has taken over and we a loosing the traditional look of the American sports car.
But, I guess that's the nature of todays market. I do not like the head lights, makes the car look like it has bug eyes.
I have seen every color C6 on dealership floors and my initial thought was "hmm, very nice." I wasn't really immediately floored. Then one day while out for a drive I saw a black C6 coupe with polished (or chrome) wheels coming toward me from the opposite direction and it hit me. To be fair, I wasn't floored with the C5 until I saw one on the road too. That was a convertible and I'll never forget how I felt when I saw it. The C6 has a very modern and muscular appearance on the road. I know I'm in the minority opinion but I like it better than the C5. To me the C5 looks "sexy" and the C6 looks "macho." I think the age of curvy flowing design is gone and replaced with the edgier style commonly seen today.
Anyway, I'm keeping my "sexy" C5-Z and adding a "macho" C6-Z to the toy box.
The C6 is the first generation not to have a look uniquely its own. That it is the first gen to go retro and so heavily rely on C5 styling cues tells me that Hill and Co think the C5 is tough to improve on.
I'll get a C6 when invoice deals are available. It's not worth the extra for me - even with 500 ponies. Considering Tom Peter's role though, it's better than I feared, but well short of what I hoped.

I have to agree. However, w/ the C6 Z not being out on the streets for everyone to look at, it kind of makes it hard for me to say. I love the C5. I also owned a C4 that I loved and thought looked better than the C5 initially. That changed over time. So, for me to say the I think that one (C5/C6) is better looking than the other would be difficult for me. The C6 may grow on me as did the C5. Either-way, they are both Vettes, and that's good enough for me

I think the C6 has alot of potential, I think they will fresh it up like they did with the C4 half way.
The C6 is a refreshment from the old C5, but they did all that with all the wrong intent, they said they shorten it and narrowed it to catch European buyers, why in the world would you want to do that, the Corvette gets European buyers because of what it is, Phat, low and strong, why would a BMW buyer consider a Chevrolet because it got shorter and narrower, Not even close, they would consider a Corvette because of the All american Muscle and the hint of exoticness the Vettes have, Now the Z06 will be wider and stronger
But Im always about something new so the C6 will grow on me, but the C5 will always be a favorite for me especially for the Flip lights(Its rare now a days), and the FRCs will be rare

I'm one of the few that's undecided because I like/dislike different parts of each model. Overall, if it were between the regular C5/C6, I would have to say the C5, but I do love the new C6 Z06 a hair better than the C5 Zee. I usually love silver, but I saw a pic of a new black C6 Z06, and it's f'n gorgeous.
The Breakdown:
Front:
I like the C6 Z06 better because of the front fascia air vent, and the hood vent - very attractive evolutions there... because the regular C6 doesn't have these, I pick the regular C5, and the C6 Z06 to win this section.
I'm torn about the C5/C6 headlights though - I hate the popup look when they're up, but love 'em when they're down (smoother look). And I just can't figure out if I love or hate the C6 headlights... I'll have to call this sub-section (headlights) a tie.
How about the best of both worlds??? If I were designing the C6, I would have created little mini sliding doors over the headlights, directly over the clear covers, to hide the headlights during the daytime, and make the whole front look more uniform.
When you turn on the headlights, the little covers would retract, like a mini-moonroof to reveal the headlights, and the entire headlight assembly would raise straight up about an inch, so that the clear cover bulges up slightly over teh hood (exactly like it looks now)...
Rear:
I'm not a fan of the HUGE back-up lights on the C5 - I think it was a good idea to diminish them, and move them to the bottom, and have the bottom section of the rear fascia all black to make the rear as a whole look more uniform and not too big. The C6 wins this section.
Side:
The C6 has definitely lost a lot of it's smooth curves, and it's clearly evident on the side. I really don't like how they evolved the side vents... they bulge out instead of in - bad idea GM.. it looks horrible!!
BUT, I do LOVE the way they flared the fenders of the C6 Z06, especially the rear.. that looks mean - makes the car look wider and lower. Does the regular C6 have these? Overall, the C5 wins this section because the side vents are gorgeous, smooth, and curve inward, like they should!
There's my $0.02, spend it wisely.

I voted can't decide because I think all Vette's have their place.
I was not really liking the C6 so much until a Lemans Blue one came up on me on the highway and seeing a darker color one in person and that thing at speed...it was just sick!

You are always obviously going to get a biased answer on this board.
You are always going to see this type of resistance with a model changeover.
Many will resist change. It is just human nature
Ask this same question in 18 months and watch the opinions change.
If you own a car that you see every day, you learn to love how it looks because it is yours and you see it all the time.
I have owned two C5 Z06s and one C6 coupe. I absolutely love both cars. However, I am the kind of guy that welcomes change and I give the edge to the C6. I love the headlights and the way the car looks in all aspects of the car. It does so many things better than my C5. I love both my babies. I have to be a good father you know. I can't show them any bias.
Pop-up headlights are for the 80's.
I love the width of the C5 and the aggresive look when the lights are down. But I love the exotic look of the new C6.
I am not a fan of the C6 Z06 side scoops. I like the C6's smooth body, if it only just had the wider fenders out back like the new Z06 will have.
It is a toss up for me. I would have to put one of each in the same color side by side for a better comparison.
I do think the C6 has a sleeker look, but I am biased now that I have a C5.
That and the reduced size. I know GM wants to sell more cars in Europe, but I don't want a small European sports car. I want a big American car. That's one of the things that makes a corvette great, it is the best of both worlds, sports car AND muscle car.
EXACTLY! i couldnt agree more! hey GM, why do vipers look bad azz and why do people buy wide body kits for their vettes?? answer: long, wide cars are just
