If you look at the registry, it looks like Z06 owners are evenly split on this issue.

Ordered mine without BSM, however, if it was the only way I could get a Z06 then I could live with it.

Good, Bad Or Ugly? It would be my luck I would have them for protection, and the guy with the big 4 wheel drive would open his door and scratch my roof.

body side moldings???? is that what they are

I thought they were some sort of stabilizing fin like they have on the NASA rockets because of the terminal velocity they reach

I would probably not have ordered them, was I given the opportunity. However I have grown to admire them and think they look great, at least on the millenium yellow.

I was even able to pickup a matching yellow garage wall protector cushion, boy does my wife think i'm silly!

The solution to this endless debate is VERY SIMPLE! I put a couple extra on ONE SIDE ...& NONE ON THE OTHER!! Now, depending on which way I park ("BSMs toward enemy"), I have a "clean" ride ...or the GrandAmZ06 from hell!

Flames

The BSM would get burnt by the Chrome Flames coming out of the side engine exhaust ports. The flames look real on my ELECTRON BLUE "Z". I park out in the boonies too. No BSMs.

Got them, but...

As soon as I find the time -- I'm getting rid of them.

They look like a design after-thought.
It's like covering your seats in plastic.
To each, his own...

My 01 came without them. My 02 has them. I read all the posts in this thread. Unless I change my mind, they are coming off...

However, I saw a silver Z with BSMs this weekend and it actually looked cool. But then, I this is something I am really checking out.

I got my '01 used in August and I want to pull off the BSM. The car has been garage (unheated) kept it's entire life (i know the previous owner). Is it to late to rip off the BSM or will I be okay.

I would have my service technician, Jason at Team Chevy (they rule), actually do it if I decide to.
