Let me elaborate a bit;
Pulled thru and stopped half way, after a metal chain driven gate opened at my storage facility, placing in park. Waiting for my worker seconds behind me. Thought it'd stay open with electric eye, but did not. Contact on bsm, pushing door 1/2" inch. The first immediate thought waz to leave, getting the hell away. But kept composure, and patience, engaging e.brake. Wound up only to have the slightest mark on bsm. So, slight to totally remove with p.compound
It's funny...when I decided to buy a Z, I had my mind set on a QS with black int and no side moldings. When I got to the dealership, I ended up buying the TR/modred with side moldings which was sitting next to the QS one.
I like them on the TR and MY...but on the other colors I think they look better without.
I can see them being a pain trying to dry the car though...hopefully compressed air will blow the water out from the cracks.
Originally I didn't want the moldings. But after looking at tons of pics of both cars with and without moldings I decided to get them when I ordered the car. I think it gives it an aggressive look. Either way the car still looks good with or without them.
BSM's or no BSM's - one of the most important life decisions we must make.
If I were to order a new Z I think I probably would have ordered them, but a local dealer had the EB and Mod red interior on the floor and wanted to deal so I didn't get the moldings. The car looks awesome with or without IMO.
I had no choice in the matter. The Black Z06 had the BSM, so I bought it with, but never liked it. I think a sports car should not have stuff like BSM, back seats, daytime running lights...
So I just took my BSMs off. I just lifted one side carefully and pulled like hell. It worked great. But the clean up afterward with my thumb was a pain in the, thumb. The right one's still hurting
It does look better without, specially from away. Close, the BSM actually looks very nice (when you don't see the entire car's profile).

I drive my car every day and the BSM has saved my doors multiple times. If someone really slams the door open the BSM takes it and it is cheap to replace. If the door took the door hit I would be looking at the cost, inconvenience of a body shop trip and repainting of the door. I like the looks without it but there are dummies out there. I can protect against stupidity but not dam stupidity.

Well, yes, IF the offending door hits the BSM......if it is high or low, you're screwed.

Ahh I understand which side of the question "Is the glass half empty or half full?" you lean toward.
Au contraire, mon frere.......if the glass is half-full or half-empty is of no consequence.........if it is either, it simply means that the glass is twice as large as it needs to be!!!
