I smoked my stock clutch after 4 hard passes at a real sticky dragstrip 2 years ago, and broke my trans (3rd gear synchro) last summer. I put a McLeod dual disc in as well as a RPM stage V trans and now beat it like a rented mule with no problems whatsoever.
I really believe that the stock stuff is plenty strong if driven "normally" but what fun is that?

No problems yet. But there are only 14k miles on it. I don't expect any problems due to abuse though.

no abuse, bought car new.clutch pedal repeatedly sticks to floor.i have to replace clutch fluid all the time.you think if you spend that much for a car they would get their crap right.my friends 08 did it and they replaced whole thing and the fluid is filthy to this day so i replace his as well.never ending thing i guess

I've had my clutch, bearing and flywheel replaced under warranty and the peddle will still fade/spongy/floor in situations like hot weather and heavy traffic stop and go stuff. I baster clutch fluid my reservoir and it's always clean. Take a look at the set up we have. Your hydraulic clutch assembly line is faced up to the catalytic converter and exhaust pipe. Really poor insulation job on the hoses and lines to cut down ion the heat. I had some Thermo Tec header wrap sitting around and am installing on both sides from the exhaust manifolds L/R flange 10" beyond the cats. Attached is photo. I'm also attaching on each exposed hose or metal line in the area some Thermo Tec Flex sleeves. Heat boils our hydraulic fluid simple as that causing fade then failure. Anyone ever hear complaints of this issue in cold weather?:mug:

I just dropped mine off at the Dealership today 07' with 4500 miles on it. Did a high speed run tried shifting the car from 4-->5 and it would not engage, returned to neutral still would not engage.. Let go off the clutch and then depressed it again and then it slid in no issue. After the run I noticed the Transmission would not easily go into reverse anymore without feathering the clutch.. Lets see what they have to say, I think it's syncros

My 06 used to grind, trying to go into reverse, while trying to get 5th from 4th @ 7000rpm. I was told it was the "reverse shift lockout solinoid." Replaced it. Now I can shift WFO from 4th to 5th but I have to get out and push the car backwards if I wanna go backwards...

Driving a car without a reverse takes planning. It's embarrassing too.

I've owned a 2007 Z06 no problems with Trans but broke valve spring at 38k miles going 25mph

I now own 2013 Z06: the transmission had bad vibration in gear shift in 5th gear- GM tried fixing transmission by replacing 5th gear plus- did not work. They then replaced entire transmission- I've put about 400 miles on new transmission no problems. In fact transmission shifts better in all gears and no vibration in 5th gear. Must be casting or bearing issue?? do not know, but when I talked to GM they seemed to have experienced this issue several times???

03 Zo6 needs reverse syncro replaced have not got around to it works holding pressure in reverse

No problems here. My T6060 shifts like a hot knife through butter once warm.

had a cluth master cyl. fail out of the blue with only 15,000 miles. was still under drive train warranty but they would not cover the master only the slave. ed
