New From Texas

Hey guys,
I just wanted to introduce myself, as I'm new here. Been planning on a z06 for some time now, and yesterday put a deposit down on a 2011 carbon edition in supersonic blue. It's been a long time coming, but I found the right car at the right time. From the serial number (last 3 digits?), it looks like this is #45.

I'm flying from San Antonio next Friday (feb 16th) to DFW with my dad, to pick it up. Pops is going to "help" me drive it back. We're both looking forward to the 85mph toll roads between Waco and San Antonio.

Re: New From Texas

We're driving from Wichita Falls to Austin on Friday and I'd be happy to deliver it to you!

Anything to help out a forum member.

BTW, a few years ago, I was going from Austin to Dallas on I-35E. I had the cruise set at 85 and was getting passed by dump trucks in a construction zone.

Re: New From Texas

As much as I appreciate the offer, I'm dying to get behind the wheel. I've also got to sign all the paperwork and write checks. I did also just buy an escort smart radar as well!

Since you're in Texas- do you know of any clubs that do track days at COTA in Austin? I'm itching to get this baby on the track!

Re: New From Texas

oh, and I be going down I-35W from Ft Worth, to 35 proper, then taking the toll roads from waco to Austin, making a stop at Emma Long on Lake Austin for some pictures and uh... scenery (you know what I mean).

Re: New From Texas

Last I heard the people at COTA canceled all plans to allow groups to use the track. I know you can do a driving school at Texas World Speedway in College Station and I HIGHLY recommend you get some professional instruction before letting your right foot overload your ability to recover. These cars WILL bite the novice.

Also, save the dates of May 17-19. That's the Lone Star Corvette Club Classic show that's so big it has to be held at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. On Sunday, you can put your car on the big oval and we'll even let you try out the infield road course.

It's too late to get in this year, but see my thread about the Big Bend Open Road Race. Speed Limits? We Don't Need No Stinkin' Speed Limits!

BTW, our schedule on Saturday is kinda light and I'd love to see the car. Maybe we could meet up some where in South Austin before 6:30 that evening. I'm staying at the Omni South Park. Shoot me a PM if it might work for you.

Re: New From Texas

Oh wow- I'd love to get in on that this year, but I'm guessing it's too late!

I know how these cars can get away from you- I drive them on Xbox all the time!!!

KIDDING!!!

I'm actually making the switch from an overpowered street bike to this 4 wheeled demon-powered beast. A healthy respect for what's under your foot keeps all your fingers and toes functioning.

Re: New From Texas

I'd love to know what 85 translates to in real world speeds. (Don't tell us )

Congrats!

I'm sure there's a multiplier in there somewhere.
