That's a fair question and I got asked the same thing at digitalcorvettes.com. I have copied my answer from there and posted it here so that I don't have to retype:
Yep, I purchased the car on 6/11/05 on the outskirts of Chicago from the 2nd owner, Brian. An interesting side note: I had tried to purchase this EXACT car last summer from the original owner, Blake, but the 2nd owner purchased it the weekend before I was scheduled to drive down to see it.
However, in negotiating with my wife to buy this car I had agreed that I would sell my other baby, a pristine 1998 WS6 Trans Am 6spd. Black on Black, 335rwhp, 350rwtq. I purchased that car in 2001 when it was bone stock and I've pulled every wrench on that car myself except for some welds on the exhaust system. I used to partake a lot on ls1tech.com ls1.com under username stellar98ramair.
Just 1 day after listing my Trans Am for sale in the local paper I received verbal committment from a buyer who came to see the car. $15.5K for a 56K mile WS6, not too shabby. However, he had asked if I would replace the front brakes and change the oil prior to coming back with a check later that week. After doing this work I took the car for what I thought would be my last drive and during this cruise the thought of selling car really hit me. I realized that I loved this car from top to bottom and knew every nuance of the vehicle - every noise, every little rattle. At that moment I realized that there is something to be said between the bond between a man and his machine and I called the buyer and regretfully explained that I could not bear to part with the car. Thankfully, he was gracious and understood.
So, now, I have 2 wonderful sports cars. A fantastically powerful '00 white FRC and a '98 WS6 that is under storage insurance and residing in a relative's garage since ours is just a 1-car garage. Thankfully, the TA is paid for which does not make the Corvette a financial burden on me but it doesn't really give me the flexibility to go and buy mods for the TA, either, which I am itching to do.
So given that I did not have the heart to part with my TA, I am forced to make a hard decision as winter approaches here in MN and try to part with one of the cars. I have already learned that I cannot bring myself to sell the TA so it is the Corvette that must go. I'm hoping to find someone specifically lookign for a white FRC that is modified. Obviously, this is their dream car.
I apologize for the length above but I felt it was necessary to tell the whole story so that people don't think I am selling because the car has some horrible flaw or issue. I am happy to answer any questions.
Thanks,
Chris
