Hey guys, I was just curious as to how much you think my car is worth. Its not a Z06, its a 1997 Camaro SS. Im seriously considering selling it in the spring since I now have a pick up truck with a snowplow for a daily vehicle. I have no pictures, but I will describe it the best I can. Its bright red, all red exterior, no black, dark gray leather interior, 6 speed, and has t-tops. It is basically fully loaded. I bought it with 4,569 miles on it in April 1998 from an older man who needed the money to do some remodeling on his house. It now has just under 36k miles and the car is mint. Never smoked in, lighter never used, back seats never sat in, t roofs off 4 times Id say. Cup holders never used. All new tires on it, mint, mint, mint I tell ya. Oil changed so often, it was rediculous. Id say the longest I ever went on an oil change is 1300 miles. Only mods on it are an underdrive crank pulley, K+N air filter, and the 1LE air bellow. Car has every SLP option except the performance suspension. So how much do you think roughly? I was thinking $17k-18k? Mike
Come on guys, 25 views and not 1 reply? Just looking for ideas on value, tell me what you think. I posted here cause I think some of you guys had these types of cars before you bought the Z06. Do you think $17k-$18k sounds like too much? Tell me what you think. Mike
Mike: I've had good luck with KBB.com in finding prices for used cars. Look at trade vs. avg. retail and compare good vs. excellent condition. It's usually somewhere in between.
I read it, I just don't know that market. What would it cost for the car without all of the stuff on it? Take that number and 30% of the mod cost (including labor) and add them together. That would be about what you'll get for it if you find the right buyer. I sold my previous car and took all the mods off and sold it for more then I could have with the mods. Something to think about as there may be a better market for your car that way.
Thanks for the replies so far. Momma, dealers always give low amounts for trade ins cause they wanna make all the money when they resell it. I bet they resold it for over 20k. Maybe Im thinking too much by saying 17-18k. Maybe its more like 15k. All I know is, you would have to look high and low to find one as good as mine and that may not be an easy thing to do. Please keep the replies coming. Mike
Hey Mike. Try Autotrader.com. Type in all your info, and search the area around you. Maybe even do a nationwide search. Gives you a good cross refference(High and Low) as to what your car is worth. I also do a local(Boston Globe, for me for example) and do a 200 mile radius. Lets me know what's available , and again, how much. I find these prices to be closer to reality than some of the "expert" pricing guides. Hope this helps, and good luck.
