All I can say is that the current discounts on the 04 models and the rebates that are available wont be there for the C6.
Take this and the expected price increase on the C6 and it could add up to 8 to 10 thousand.

your looking at 450hp and about 60 to 62 thousand for the 06, buy the 04 stick a few grand in mods you will be back at 450hp but under 50grand, don,t forget the first year of a model change is not always the best way to go. 97c5 transaxle problems, 01Zo6 oil problems, also 02,s went up in hp

The oil issue has nothing to do with being an '01 and a Z06 - it is inherent to the LS1/LS6 engine.

Rick, imho, if the price goes "WAY UP" for the C6 or future Hipro
"racers" model, GM faces another ZR-1 fiasco. In all six years of production, they sold <10k cars; not even a measly 500 in each of the last 3 years. At $60k+ they sat on the dealer's lots for months - even years - with no buyers. Even out here in N. CA where dealers are so high profit motivated, in the end, they had to discount into 5 figures just to get rid of 'em. At much over 50K I think "new" Corvette buyers dry up pretty fast. All I can say is, GM sure better hope the economy improve A WHOLE LOT by the intro of C6, either that or a sudden resurgence in the stk mkt.

Let see if we can figure this out. Let assume that the 06 Z06 comes in at $56000.00 witch is very reasonble considering the HP jump. We all know that their will be no discounts and most dealers will be marking them up above MSRP. With the GM owner rebate available right now you can buy a 2004 Z06 for $46885.00.
Thats $9115.00 diff. right there. Now if the come out with some kind of rebate on the 04 model that will put you over $10000.00 more.

I guess everyone has noticed the steady increase in price of the Zs (And all of the models for that matter) since '01. While there have been slight changes to the cars nothing to warrant 1,000+ price increases from year to year. After these price increases corvettes began to be discounted with rebates and financing to offset the increase....It is all a ploy for GM to "soften" the sticker shock of the C6. I think this is what Rick is trying to Tip-Toe around .

The local chevy dealer here , North of Toronto....which is the largest vette dealer in Canada is discounting 2003 ZO6's by $10,000.......and the sad thing is I still can't afford one.

Considering a loaded yellow Z06 is over $53k, I'm thinking your $55k number is low for a C6 Z06.
