I understand your reasons for doing this. However, being one that does a lot of reading and not so much posting, I have a question. I see a lot of people with literally hundreds of posts, but if you go look at their history, all they do is post one of those stupid little emoticons like or as their reply (no they're not stupid if used in addition to text). If your intent is to enrichen/improve the board, these reply's are just wasting your server space. Do these "reply's" count towards total posts? Someone is just gonna go in and do that 25 or 50 times if they really want to sell something. Do you really want to scroll through all that? I'd buy something from someone with 10-15 informative posts that's been here for 6 months or a year vs. someone that's been here two weeks with 75 useless posts. I know there's no right answer here and I don't have anything for sale, just food for thought is all.

I would agree with Switch. It should be 50 post min. if not at least a certain min. time frame to have been a member. I mean i could easily get 50 posts, by posting "GOOD LUCK WITH THE SALE" . I have been a member for 6/9 months. I don't post much because I can answer most of my questions with the search feature. Or i don't know enough on alot of the topics to add any usefull comments. But after the fest you will all know who I am. Not sure if that is good or bad.
But, it is a good idea any way to have min. standards.

Rick, your thoughts here are not without merit, but we have to try and accomplish our goal within the limitations of our server software (which cannot distinguish between a 'good post' and a 'good luck with the sale' post).
You're point about "wasting server space" may be valid, but is not what we are trying to resolve at this time. Our goal here is pretty specific and was stated in the original post by Mark.
Now, if someone tries to get around our '25 post rule' with nonsensical and obvious post count games, the moderators we have here on the site are pretty sharp and they will have the flexibility to delete any for sale threads by the 'game players" and or ban them if necessary. If we find the 25 post limit is too low, we will modify that to 50 or 100 if that becomes necessary.
If it would have been possible for the software to accomodate, my preference would have been to have a time requirement and/or a post count requirement, but it can't be done at this point.
Hope I have addressed your questions and concerns.
Well, I wasn't going to comment, then I was just going to the move, but then I read the post above by mph1972 and was filled with the spirit of as one more of the wandering lost found his way to the one, the only, the oft-imitated but never equaled ...
Now ... do I get some Z miles?
