The following Program rules and guidelines are presented as responses to questions. When a statement applies to a purchaser, regardless of whether he or she is an eligible or a sponsored purchaser, the words "purchaser" and "you" are used. In addition, when the word "purchase" and its variations are used, it should be understood to mean "purchase or lease through a GMAC SmartLease®."(1)

1. Who Are Eligible Purchasers?
1A. Regular active and regular retired employees.
1B. The surviving spouses of deceased active and deceased retired eligible employees.
1C. GM scholars and college interns - eligible during their period of employment.
1D. Laid off General Motors employees with 10 or more years of service or seniority at the time of layoff - eligible during the first 24 months of layoff .
1E. Laid off General Motors employees with less than 10 years of service or seniority at the time of layoff - eligible during the first 12 months of layoff.
1F. Employees on approved disability leaves of absence - eligible during the entire period of their disability leave.
1G. Employees on non-disability, approved leaves of absence - eligible generally during the first 12 months of such leaves.
Top

2. Who Are Not Eligible Purchasers?
2A. Temporary employees, contract employees, and contractor's employees.
2B. Former employees who are entitled to deferred vested pension benefits.
2C. Former employees whose termination of employment was for any reason other than regular retirement.
2D. Employees who lose their eligibility status as a sanction for violating Program rules.
2E. The employees, retirees, and surviving spouses in any unit or group classified as a GM joint venture or divestiture generally may not be eligible purchasers. The applicable unit or group Personnel office should be contacted for clarification and confirmation of eligibility status

I hope this clears up your questions.

GMO is the GM employee only discount,

GMS is for GM employees and their suppliers.
The company I work for is a major GM supplier, A guy who works in my office got a 2002 Z06 (black/black) at GMS. GMS is around $44,700 (maybe a little higher now with the price increase).

Back when GM was giving $2002 off, my friend got his Z for $41600+ tax (GMS price -2002 -1200 (the 1200 was from his GM card)). Now thats a steal!

Some body tell me if I am wrong but this is what I understand.

GMO & GMS are intended for elligible buyers. See Rick's list. (However I do not think his list is complete. I looked at the list on GM's website & I remember other relatives being elligible.)

GMO price is for a vehicle that is ordered and is the lower price.
GMS is for a vehicle that is in stock.
This is optional on the dealer's part. GM as I understand does not require the dealer to give you this pricing even if you qualify for it!

I could not find any dealer who would give GMO or GMS on any corvette let alone a Z06. However I could get either one on an SS camaro eventhough I did not qualify? They are making 3% of sticker + their volume discount + any available factory to dealer incentives that they won't tell you about.

Remember the dealer can sell you a vehicle for $1.00 if he want's to it is up to him. It has all to do with how bad he want's to sell the car and how greedy he is. Such as those who ask thousands over sticker.

When a dealer sells a vette at sticker he makes a killing. Not only is his profit the difference between invoice & sticker but he also makes 3% of the sticker price as holdback to cover the cost of financing the car while it sits on the lot befor someone buys it. If you order the car or take one as it comes in his financing cost is $0. If he sells at invoice most will scream that they are losing money.
