That is correct :-) Speedline was the stock wheel vendor starting with 2002. Speedline's are spun cast and slightly lighter. The 2001's are forged, slightly heavier and much stronger....
my mistake I had thought Speedline was the manufacturer for all years...who then was manufacturing 01 forged thinner spoked Z rims? Anyhoo those are what I'm looking for 18x10.5 01's due to more clearence on my big brake AP system than the 02's.
Never heard who the mfg was, but it was reported that GM wasn't happy with 'em because they could not produce the volume of wheels that GM needed.....Could have been a smaller mfg, but the wheels are top notch
Yes, Alcoa made the rims for the first year Z06. They are .4 lbs for the front and .5 lbs for the back for each rim heavier than the 02 and up rims. To tell the difference the 01's are slightly darker and have slightly thinner spokes. Which for me it is hard to tell. The easy way for me is the look at or feel the the back of each spoke. The 02's and up have a slight hollowing on the backside of every other spoke. where the 01's do not.

For what it's worth, I sold mine last year to my next door neighbor who has a 1999 TR Coupe. Mine were chromed and had 275x35x17 MPS on the front(2/3 tread) and 295x35x18 MPS on the rear(1/2 tread). Got $1,500.00 for wheels and tires.....wheels were perfect.....
