I blew a rear tire today...

My tire blew and I just paid $400 for a new rear tire! Story and Question inside...

... and am looking for 1 or 2 new/used rear tires... down to 50% tread ok. I'm thinking better to find a used tire or two for the rears than to waste money burning up a $400 tire I just bought while the other tires are at 50% tread life.
