FEAR THE MIATA
I bought my '04 there (It is Koons, BTW). I got a very good deal.
They do play the "additional dealer markup" game though - as long as people are still willing to pay it. I remember overhearing a conversation between salesmen bragging about getting $7-8k over MSRP for the SSRs. That didn't last long.

I really don't know what to make of this 'extra dealer mark up' ....You know, if someone is dumb enough to pay it, it will sell....I would have to think most all consumers are smart enough to not research an expensive purchase a bit, before purchasing... Guess if someone is dumb enough to buy it, thats their problem!

We live in a free country with a free economy. Give your fellow consumers more credit than you do.
If a buyer has the money and wants to spend it then that is their free choice. If someone has something for sale that is in demand, let them get their price.
If you ever beat up a dealer for a better price because they had ample stock on hand, but are now bitxxing about dealer mark-up, that seems hypocritical to me.
We should all cherish this free country and free economy we live in. Let's keep our elected officials on track and keep things as free as possible. Most people seem to want to ask for more regulation. Be careful what you ask for.....
Yeah....the mid-atlantic is just as bad as everywhere else! Koons, Sport and Criswell have AMP's of 15K-20K. Unfortunately...there are some morons with more money than brains in this area (Potomac(Md) and Great Falls(Va) come to mind). Time is on our side.
These villiage idiots you spoke of think they have another ZR1 or King of the Hill. It's a great car no doubt but to many not all it's not worth even the MSRP. As I predicted as time passes on you will see more and more of these cars piling up and on lots. Of course they are going to try to get a sucker if they can. I wish them luck. GM is in big trouble and these dealers greed or treating the public like fools will back fire.
Remember the saleman doesn't set the price, management does. He's just trying to make a living. If you want to get your point across contact the owner of the dealership. I always go to the top. The mid management is a waste of your time or Patience my friends, patience.
Look at the forums C6 F/S section. There is new or used w/500 miles on it silver Z06 2LZ asking for $75,000.00
Also anothr member mentioned just selling his black new Z06 last week with a 1000 miles on it in the thread. Whatever check the F/S of the C6s I'm sure there will be more to come.
The hell with those dealers jerking the public off. Their just trying to make a living and a big sale before the thrill is gone.
I received the following email from a local dealer. This is the same dealer that had a markup on the SSR's of $12,000. I x'd out his and the dealerships name but if anyone is interested PM me and I'll forward the info.
Steve,
Thank you for contacting Bob xxxxxxx Chevrolet-Cadillac regarding your request for price information on a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. My name is MARK xxxxxx, the Internet Sales Manager for our dealership. I want you to realize that I am here to help you with the research and selection of your next vehicle in any way I possibly can. I want your next vehicle purchase to be as easy and hassle free as possible. Please let me know immediately if you need any additional information to help with your decision making process, or if you would like to schedule a time to stop in and see me. I look forward to meeting you sometime in the near future.
Steve, we currently have an unsold order for a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 that is still available as of today. It is Victory Red with the 2LZ package, navigation system, and high polished chrome wheels. It is currently scheduled to be built on January 11th, 2006. The suggested retail price of this Z06 will be $71,595. We are asking $ 81,595 plus tax and title for this Z06, however we would consider any serious offers. We have already turned down an offer of $76,595 for this Z06 allocation this past week. Please, get in touch with me by e-mail or telephone as soon as possible if you are interested. We have had a lot of interest in this vehicle due to it's limited availability and this being the first of the C6 Corvette Z06 models for this body style.
The next step is up to you! I don't know if you are simply starting to research your next vehicle, or if you have determined that this is exactly what you are looking for. If this is the vehicle you want, call me at 304-xxx-xxxx and I can put a hold on the vehicle until you have a chance to make it in latter today. If you need trade value information on your current vehicle or payment information before making a final decision, I would be happy to assist you with that as well. Just let me know!

if the moron who pays 15k trades his 2006 z06 to koons the next day, koons will give him 50k below what said moron paid. real bad move considering within 1 year they will go for sticker.
As long as GM keeps making them we are smart to wait.
What will fall more in value as a percentage of its price over the next year?
1 - C5 Z06 (price say 36K)
2 - C6 Z06 that you just paid 15k over sticker.
Easy choice for me to make.

Oh, KOONS, Man I've tried to deal with them serval times. I never can get them to treat me like a human being. They did just call me today as then got my internet request two weeks ago ( I was getting scared about my deal that did come through). This guy at Koons was so proud to tell me that it would only be somewhere between 15k and 20k over. And that I should grab it up as they just had some (rich) guy fly in and insist on paying 30k over. Liars.
Lied to me 3 times over a 2002 SS Camaro.
Kept raising the price on me for a burned out 2002 Z06.
Fool me Thrice, shame on me. Be careful.

Now that it has started snowing, prices should soften up a little.
