The best comeback is to spend your money with someone else. Some years ago I was dealing with a Vette salesman who ticked me off by giving me some information I knew was incorrect so he could sell what was in stock. He has now watched me buy 3 vettes and a truck from another salesman who treats me right and has been honest with me. Needless to say, he hates it every time I walk in the dealership.
Write a letter to the dealership owner and cc the manager. Let them know this guy is costing them money. I definitely would have said something, but this would be the civilized/adult/correct way to handle it.
I would have introduced myself to him as "the punk who would never buy a car from any dealership where he was employed".
I've done just that myself before, and the sales managers really really don't like it.

I am a salesman, not a car salesmen, but I think I understand most of the sales culture at the average car dealership. Basically, a group of guys (salesmen) is just like a group of guys anywhere. Acting tough & cool for each others enjoyment.
Now... all car salemen that work hard PLEASE don't take offense to this but I get the feeling, sometimes, that there is a lot of downtime in car sales. Sounds like these guys needed more to do.
At 39 (with 4 kids and mean wife) I feel like a tired old man. I would turn it around and take "punk" as a compliment. Like... "yeah, I'm a punk and I'm gonna kick your ass and steal your old lady!" - - - Remember... James Dean was a punk!
Hey, he could have called you a faggot, a geek, jerk, a..hole,scum sucking bit.., a whole lot of worse things. If you would have hit him or started something..then we could have all called you Punk. You done good by walking out. Class act.
