Gm Shafted Me

I SENT MY 03 ZO6 TO BE REPAIRED, DONT TRUST MY LOCAL DEALER SO SENT THE CAR 1100 MILES AWAY..UPON INSPECTING, THEY FOUND THE CAM BOLTS--1 BACKED OUT, THE OTHER BROKE IN HALF, CAUSING THE TIMING CHAIN TO DROP--RESULTING IN BUSTED HEADS, BUSTED BLOCK, EVERY PISTON HIT EVERY VALVE DESTROYING MOTOR. THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT-IT WAS A PROBLEN FROM GM SO THEY TOOK THE MOTOR TO THE DEALERSHIP HEADS OFF, TIMING COVER OFF SO THEY COULD SEE THE OBVIOUS PROBLEM-AND NOT FROM SOMETHING I DID..GM FINALLY COMES TO LOOK AT IT AND IMMEDIATELY WALKS OUT SAYING NOT COVERING IT BECAUSE THE DEALER DID NOT REMOVE THE ENGINE--A VERY GOOD ASE CERTIFIED AND BEYOND DID. THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE FASTER TO GET A REPLACEMENT ENGINE..CAR IS UNDER WARRANTY---WHAT IF I HAD IT SOMEWHERE THERE WAS NOT A DEALERSHIP AND IT HAPPENED--SAME ROUTE, A CERTIFIED GROUP TAKES THE MOTOR OUT--GETS ANOTHER AND I SEND THE BILL IN FOR REIMBURSEMENT? GM DID ME WRONG AND WILL NOT EVEN HELP ME WITH A NEW BLOCK OR HEADS
I HAVE BOUGHT FROM GM SEVERAL NEW CARS IN THE PAST 12 YEARS--NO MORE FOR ME.. VERY FRUSTRATED--THIS WAS A GM PROBLEM- NOT A OUT OF MY POCKET PROBLEM--ENGINE WAS NEVER OPENED UP BEFORE THIS. ANY IDEAS? sorry for yelling.Dave

I think you have made a big mistake. Every manufacturer in the world whether its cameras/cars/laptops doesnt allow anyone but their dealerships to open up vital parts like the engine. If you stopped in the middle of the desert you dont go to the nearest mechanic and send the bill to GM. You call the 1800 number and ask for your Z to be towed to the nearest dealer. They will cover that no matter how far you are.

yes, I made the mistake of not calling into gm-i didnt know what was wrong with it actually thought it was something simple-the other parts dont cause cam bolts to come out--magnusson act-still under warranty-as long as the part doesnt cause the failure--12000 mile motor--cam bolts came out of a motor that had never been opened..my only mistake--not calling gm when it happened to let them tow the car..all the other stuff had been removed---did not cause the cam bolts to back out--i have seen 6 other people this happened to but out of warranty..Dave

yes i am sol..actually sent the car off to have some performance upgrades, a hood and dyno tuned..no close tuner to me--like i said-thought it was something simple...they take the motor out--found ther problem and immediately took the motor to dealership--figured less time--obvious problem and quick replacement--NOT--GM rep took 1 look and said--NO WARRANTY--motor apart (for easy inspection) theres a 6500.00 lesson--will not even give me a block or heads--NOT COOL

Sorry man that sucks. It's just an unfortunate set of circumstances I know. And it probably wouldn't have happened if so many GM service centers were'nt so incompetent. I'm sure if you felt like you could trust them, you would have called them.

If it was something i did--i would bite the bullet--nothing i did would cause the cam bolts to come out and it has happened on other cars..now i suppose i am suppose to take it up the rear--i dont see this as my fault, and neither does anyone else--look at the circumstances..
