Call to make an order and Maroone Chevrolet of Pembroke Pines asked me for $92,000.00. Told them they were crazy and hung up.

Would be pretty funny if no one bought a 06 Z06 when they came out cause of the high prices. Once they are out and being driven the price will go way down pretty fast on getting them used. Buy em for 92K, drive em off the lot and they are worth 60K.

msrp

correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't msrp stand for Manufacturer's 'SUGGESTED" Retail Price.

Hey, if it's only a suggestion why not charge what the market will pay. and there are suckers out there who will pay.

trust me it will come down fast as they build more.

check out this interesting site on what has been going on with Ford GT prices. and they are not even building as many of those as chevy is going to build of the new Z.

No '06 Z's. Want $10K over MSRP on all 2005 vettes. I can only imagine what their makup will be when/if they get a Z.

Amen to that. as i said in another post; those don't like should consider a move to mother russia and see what kind of transportation they could scrounge up over there.

Just bought an '03 Z06 instead. maybe trade up in few years when market stablizes and bugs worked. don't '01 Z06's have oil burning issues. there will be some quirk to the first thousand or so of these puppies that roll of the line.

I'm glad the dealers are charging so much right now. If you can't find a good deal and you HAVE to have the car right now, an absolute non-necessity, then you deserve to get ripped off. If you dont buy, they wont over-charge. The end.

Price Gouging?

As a longtime car dealer (who unfortuately does not sell Chevy), I've gotten alot of laughs from this and other similar threads. Car sales are just like house sales, gas sales, food sales, and any other sales in a free market. There are too many factors to list that affect true market value, and in our business it usually means that to be competitive we must discount (sometimes heavily) below what the manufacturer thinks their product is worth, because that's what the customer is willing to pay. Every so often a car co. builds something everyone wants so the demand might actually justify MSRP or even more. For what it's worth, none of my stores have ever delivered a car over MSRP, including the one Ford GT we got and the hundreds of Chrysler 300's we've sold, but no matter how hot a car is, or how short the supply is, we always get customers who aren't afraid to ask for a (sometimes ridiculous) discount. Customers for any product will only pay what they think is equal to or less than the value they place on the product, so I expect there are lots of people who will pay more for the new Z than the General thinks it's worth. It sounds like a great car, and I'd replace my 03 Z06 if my wife would let me. $10,000 over is still cheaper than the Viper I'm looking at in my showroom.

Be patient and save a few of G's. I think 5G's over MSRP is still too much. By the time it's all said and done with taxes you will be paying near or over 70G's. Having said that $65,000 firm is a fair price for this C6Z. I'll wait 5 years and probably get it for I say about $40,000 - $45, 000. Anyone agree.

I'm betting that by late '06 they'll probably be available under sticker like most of the other Z's were. I'll wait for at least an '07 model though, so they can work the bugs out if there are any.

On a side note, although it seems rediculous that a dealer would charge 20-30K over sticker, it is the buyers that are really driving up these prices. If nobody bought them at hese inflated prices, you would rapidly see these prices decline. By watching Ebay auctions, I can see that many people are willing to pay these inflated prices and therein lies the problem.

Five years? You'll pay in the 30's. Remember, on a mass-produced premium car, they take a bigger hit percentage-wise than a bread-and-butter sedan.:oo:
