The headlight motor on my Z06 went bad so the day I have been dreading finally arrived, I have to take it in for service. I call Thomas Chevrolet in Media Pa and should have known immediately from our phone conversation. I spoke with John and he was very rude right from the get go and spoke to me as if I was an idiot and had a major attitude. I made an appointment for Saturday so I could wait with the car and figured I better make sure they had the part in stock, a different service advisor put me through to parts and they said they would order the part. I get a call back from John telling me "How dare me call parts and order the part before they diagnose the problem". I explain how I know it is the HL motor and did not want to waste my day coming in for service if they don't have a part in stock and would go someplace else if this is the case. They reluctantly agree to have the part in stock but again cop an attitude what will they do with the part if that is not the problem. I tell him I will buy the part if that’s not the problem. I go in for my appointment and make an offer to do it myself and return the old part and they can bill GM for the warranty work but they refuse, I fully understood their position there but figured I would offer anyway. They tell me the last one they did was a nightmare and the car had to go to the body shop to get realigned etc and they were not sure if they could do it on a Saturday. (hello, it is 3 bolts that hold the motor on) I tell them you don't have to remove the whole assembly that you can sneak it out past the hood hinge and that all the bolts are accessible and it is only a 30 minute job and offer again to do it myself so the service writer Colleen declines my offer but says, I will have a mechanic look at it and if that is the case we will do it. Even WITH removing the assembly it is less than an hour job, GM pays 9/10 of an hour for it. So after waiting 1 1/2 hour a mechanic listens to it (didn't even open the hood) and Colleen comes back and tells me it needs an actuator linkage and the whole assembly needs to be rebuilt. I say NO WAY, it is just the motor, the gear is going bad. (Maybe they are trying to gouge GM on their warranty work) She then says, regardless, we don't want to do it today. Well then why did you make the appointment for today and make me wait 1 1/2 hours to not even look at it. I also know a few people that work there and was told that they don't like Corvette Owners and they think we are a bunch of elitist butt holes that do things like bring our own fender covers and complain when they trash our cars. Thomas Chevrolet has lost my business for any future purchase and service. What a bunch of morons. If you value your vette I would steer clear. I am almost at the point that I am going to buy the motor at $227 and do it myself.
Sorry you had such a hard time with the dealer. Good news is you can replace just the gear. Go to Rodney's site and he will fix you up with the new gear for $xxx and an hour of your time. You can call him at xxx-xxx-xxxx or the site below.

Seems like a story you hear way too much, what do the Dealers think we are? Most of them, i have to say i am lucky, treat you like you just got off the watermellon truck.
Just got off the phone with Tom from Thomas Chevrolet, he obviously could care less about his Corvette clientele and just made excuses for his service department. He was also upset that he will have to pay a 20% restocking fee for the part now since I don't trust them with my corvette. I guess there is alot more money in selling Cavaliers
everytime you take a car to a dealer they mess it up because they don't care... because they don't own it..

When you purchase a car of this caliber the service deserves to be professional. I am sorry that the dealer you went to was not helpful to say the least. Do your homework when you buy a corvette. Buy it at a dealership that has great service protocol and corvette experienced techs. The lowest price does not guarantee great service. The service is very key as you are now discovering.
I would like to comment on this dealer from my past experiences. I have purchased 6 cars from this dealership and never had a problem with their service. I have always been greeted with respect and everyone was always more than happy to go out of their way for me. I have also met Tom and we spent a few hours talking about corvettes he has a passion for this car and owns quite a few of them.

When you take a GM vehicle to a service center that you have not purchased from they are not very receptive in helping service the car. This is for a local service not out traveling the country and breaking down. Go get it serviced where you bought it and see how you are treated much different I bet.
