DW, do you even bother reading the previous thread/posts before you post, or do incoherent and unrelational thoughts just enter you head and materialize on your keyboard?
You clearly know nothing of what's transpiring here, and based on your post, don't care.
Originally posted by N4C5S Effective immediately, the posting of nudity of any kind in the forums and Concours is expressely prohibited.
Previous links and images will be dealt with as they are discovered.
Nude banner shots (defined as images that contain a Z06Vette.com banner at the time of exposure (no banners added post exposure or by electronic means) *will* be allowed. These images will reside in their current location (the over 18 link in the Banner AREA *not* forum) but will be password protected as soon as the system is complete.
Passwords for this area will be given out on an individual basis to be detailed asap.
This is being done to create a more friendly environment for our younger viewers as well as protect ourselves from legal prosecution.
We thank you for understanding this new policy change and we welcome any questions you may have regarding this. Please contact a moderator (or administrator) with your questions.
Thanks again,
JC
Thats the policy, Some win, Some lose, lets move on.......................
Next thing will be someone posting excitedly about a product they bought - the poster will name the product, place purchased and price..... thinking that they are doing a great service to their forum "friends" by letting everyone know about the product/price/availability...
But *BAM* - they would have "violated site policy" and "offended a forum sponsor" or 2... and the post will be deleted... etc etc etc
My bad - y'all have been there and done that already ...
This is so old, I have probably been a visitor of more on-line communities over the last 6 years, in more diverse interests than many - and know what????
Every single time, without fail, to a T, never a deviation from form - a forum (it's a much more than just a site/forum - whatever) starts out as a "community" of same-interest individuals, it grows, prospers and meets the needs of the members - they feel solidarity in their joint interest - and "prosper" - not materially - but communally --------- that is until it gets a life of it's own, and needs to meet some "undefined yet required" squeaky corporate "standard" to keep the sponsors coming (the accessory shops and tuners), to placate the main themes Vendor/Manufacturer (in this case GM) and finally the "general" public, which unlike the die-hards, are easily offended and may be a different demographic.
The plain truth?
"Sense of Community & Expression" and "Business Needs & Professional Image" are mutually exclusive on the net - and as in life, ironically, the successful businesses are born from the original customer base that was attracted by that very "Sense of Community & Expression". (in sales this is an actual technique - Bait & Switch )
Verdict - Z06Vette.Com is about to go the way of a million other "pay to play" on-line "communities". that lose the original mystique and are now simply "virtual store fronts"
Unless you catch it in time .... Good luck
p.s. I wanna stick around and watch this one play out...
Freedom of speech, censorship, big brother is watching, the site is changing........grow up! I come to the forum for Z info, if I want porn I'll buy Hustler.
let me read between the lines for everyone....once a password is in place... the banner area/forum will operate much as it always has... lets just see what happens.

Running a site isn't free or easy. Unless someone has bags 'o money, I'd challenge anyone to grow and keep a site free without trying to balance content / censorship.
Vince has a point. It is much like the old days in "Abilene". There comes a time, as I have said in the past, when saloons and brothels make way for schools, churches, and community activities. It didn't kill Abilene, it doesn't have to kill a forum, most particularly this one... <-- Kool Aid!

Have you ever been to Abilene? I've been there a couple dozen times and man it is BORING!! I'll take the brothels and saloons any day!
BTW, JC, I've seen what RC45 is referring to, and the best advice I can give you at this point in this forum's life is this: Don't let the sponsors run the site. I like most of our sponsors and I fully understand their necessity, but when they start dictating the board's content and deciding what we can and can't say, that's when things really go downhill.
As long as you stay true to your members and act with their best interests in mind, they'll stay true to the forum.
Thanks Cam, but I really think you guys are blowing this out of proportion.....
Why?
Cause we passed this same type of policy about 8 months ago and got slack on it.....And you know what? These same threads began appearing
2 weeks later, noone cared and it was back to posting about heads and cams, like it should be
RC45, I do resent the categorization, you may have been visiting sites for 6 years, but I've been building them (much larger than this one) for over 10.
I encourage everyone to let this unfold and see what happens, posting negative speculation based on other sites is not productive.
Can we get back to what's important here? Can we talk Vettes now?
Thanks in advance for not reviving this topic......
