Wil Cooksey and Zip

Mrs Zippy and I really enjoyed the C5/6 Bash at the NCM last weekend. Great opportunity to visit friends we met thru the years, and make new ones.
GM unveiled the 2009 model Corvette, and displayed several pre-production ZR1 Super cars.

Hghlights of the weekend included honoring Wil Cooksey's (recently retired plant manager) contribution and dedication to Corvette for all those years.

One of my highlights happened un-expectedly after the dinner banquet Saturday night. Wil approached our table and said, "hey Zip, Jim Browning (prez of Corsa Performance) told me youI had the new Corsa cat back 3" on your Z06," and asked if he could hear it. Sure, I said, it's parked outside....so I get behind the wheel and fire it up....Wil loves it. I told him to get behind the wheel and take it for a spin to hear it under load.....He loved it and couldn't thank me enough for letting him hear the new Corsa exhaust system.

Geez, I never realized Wil even knew me!

BTW, Wil loves drag racing, and I asked him if he still runs the 1/4 mile. He said now that he's retired, he'll have more time for it.

All in all, a great weekend in Bowling Green.

Zip

Good stuff, Tony!
Wil Cooksey has always been very approachable and accommodating.
And clearly, a genuine car nut to the core!

Re: Wil Cooksey and Zip

Zip is more famous than he thought. A legend in his own time! I have been thinking about trying to get him to adopt me. Then he could just hand me down his old worn out Vettes.
