Anyone from these parts??? I will be moving to Ocala, Florida in 2 weeks. I'm pretty excited about it, but I'll be living in an apartment at first. Then if everything seems like a good fit, I'll be house hunting. Till then, I'd like to know of good places to take the vette for any work to be done. Basic stuff, till I get a house and bring my tools down.
I was born in Gainesville and raised in Ocala. We moved to N.J. when I was 17. That was 10 years ago, so I don't know about any Corvette spacific shops at that time, but I hear the area has grown a lot since I left, so maybe there are some reputable places to take it. My dad always took our '76 to the dealership, but I would advise against that.
If you're into the outdoors, it's a great place to live. Plenty of fishing, camping, hunting, and off-roading to be done around there. You will be near the Ocala National Forest. Not too much different from S.C. I'm sure. Good luck with the move!!!
I'm from Orlando and not real familiar with the Ocala scene. However, as noted by Mark, Greg from Anti-Venom (a site sponser) is located in the Tampa area (1 1/2 hr close) and definitely a good spot to check out. I generally go to a different place over here in Orlando (not a site sponser).
If you have issues to work on your Vette before you get your tools, shoot me an email or PM and we'll work something out to get you fixed up. I have been racing cars and motorcycles for over 35 years and have a fair share of tools. Orlando is about 1/2 to 45 minutes from Ocala depending on which part and how you drive.
Later ... Larry S.

I have a second home there. My wife is there for the winter, I work in MA and travel down. I drive the car and leave it there late November through April.
I've had some minor stuff done on the Vette at the local Chevy dealer, Palm Chevrolet. They've been pretty good about letting me in to the shop to talk with whoever's doing the work. They know it's blown, and don't give me any trouble about it. My pickup trucks have been getting service there for years. One year, the truck's brakes needed major work. I was in MA, so my wife took it in for service. I had trouble believing the extent of the work they said needed doing, and asked them to email me some pictures so I could see for myself. Which they did. Cheerfully. And I had them do it all. I've always been happy with their work.
We could maybe hook up when I'm down there in a couple of months time...
