Saturday, June 17 at Ripken Stadium. Let's bring out the autocrossers and show the Porsche guys how we run. Registration and tech starts early, 7:30. First car is off at 9:00. The course is usually fairly open and fast. Anyone can run. Helmet must be DOT 2002. $30 for 4 passes through the course. Z06 classed as SS (super stock) runs in the afternoon.
I registered for the autocross. The Z06 is classed as Super Stock. I will be running against a Lotus Elise and a few other Z's. It should be very interesting. Super Stock and the modified classes run after noon so if you are busy in the morning there is still plenty of tire shredding to see.
From what I heard so far, the process is not quite complete. I don't know if there is an Ironbirds game that day or not. Unless something changes this month, I am told it is still on.
Not too bad. I was preoccupied with helping a couple of newbies get hooked. It worked. They want to go back again and again. One of the novices asked for a ride on run #2. She will not soon forget what autocross feels like. I also found out after the event that I had a nail in one of the rear tires. I have new shoes (it was timefor a fresh set of Goodyears anyway) and I will be ready to attack at the next event. My first run was 57 seconds and the last was 53. I will be shooting for the 40's in July.
No Ironbirds game on Sept. 10 so it looks like we are ready to go. Last I heard, we don't have any sanctions left so it will be a fun run this time. We want to make it a big regional for next year.
Another autocross weekend, July 8 and 9. The event on the 8th is run by Autocrossers Inc., a good group that hosts a well run event. The Corvette class (super stock) runs early this time. The event on the 9th is sponsored by the Porsche club. I have not run with them but I understand they also run a good event.

I believe that George is working on that. It is a bit late to borrow sanctions but George has many markers he can call in so perhaps he can pull it off.
As far as I know there aren't any sanctions for this one. We are using SCCA rules for tech and helmets.
OK ... thanks ... turns out club couldn't get NCCC sanction number anyway because there's a National Governors' Meeting that weekend. I'd like to check out Ripken lot, but I have AutoX the other three weekends (unless I come up to the White Marsh show instead on the 24th ...) We'll see.
