Tarheel club i(THSCC) is sponsoring a 2 day HPDE/Time Trials event at VIR, Feb 11-12 if anyone is interested. Would be great to have some Z06 members there to run with me
Come on out and see what your Z06 can do on a roadcourse!
For those thinking about going-there are a lot of vettes from the other forum already signed up. I ran with this group last yr and they have some awsome instructors and run a very professional event.
They do require you complete a tech inspection form prior to the event-I usually have my mechanic sign it when I am in getting my pads changed-or go to your local shop and ask them to sign it.
Leslie,
I'm heading to Norfolk tomorrow for a school that lasts until the end of March and bringing my car with me. I plan on taking it to Phoenix for a winter overhaul. If I can get it back, I'd love to do this DE.

I'll keep you posted.
sounds good. there are a group of vette guys at VIR every event, should be a great event, especially with the time trials going on-would you be running them?
Athough I'm still not sure if I can make this event with my car as I'll be taking it to Phoenix Performance in a week or so for an overhaul, I dropped the club an email asking about being an instructor.
At the least, I may just come to this event to meet everyone and watch.
Wish I could be there to run with you - VIR is my favorite track. Have fun, and take pics please!
Les

uhhh, instructor??? I have an empty passenger seat!!!!!
I run solo, but I can ALWAYS use some coaching
Z06Les-it's become my favorite track too, right behind MID OH. I will most definitely be taking some pics this time, always get caught up in driving I forget to most of the time

Interestingly, the organizer dropped me an email this afternoon asking me to fill out an instructor application. Guess I'll fill that baby out and send it back. Still likely to show up without a car, but it would be fun to get out with your for a few sessions and ride around.
Leslie-I have never raced my Z on a road track, but will plan on attending this event and watching. I understand the event is full anyway. Anything I need to know or do, other than registering, before I show up? thanks
Most frustrating experience I've had at the track is watching others run and not being able to. But for the novice, there's a lot to learn ...
If you go, see if you can get a ride with an instructor.
Hook up with someone and listen as they go thru the pre-run prep, post run tire checks, check temps on engine, drivetrain, (tires), etc. (not a real concern in Feb but ... practices.
Talk equipment ... right balance of tires, brakes, pads, suspension settings, etc. Talk coolers as applicable.
Walk the track with an experienced person ... let them tell you, show you "the line"
Eavesdrop on the instructional sessions.
In other words ... just don't hang on the fence ...
FWIW
Denny--thanks--you wouldn't happen to be going, would you? I am a novice and like I said I have never raced on a road track, only the drag strip. I did take the Spring Mountain 3 day road course last november and am looking forward to trying my Z on a road track, but after seeing how much wear and tear were put on the cars at Spring Mountain, I am not sure I want to put my Z through it even though it is a heck of a lot more fun than the drags. I thought if I went and watched it may pump me up to try it.
Do you think I would have any trouble doing what you suggested, given I don't know anyone that will probably be there?
Mike-a lot of run groups won't let you go for a hot lap with an instructor unless you are a student with the group. If you have never run a HPDE, it would be kewl to show up for a few hrs and check things out, watch people run, and see all the cars there
Subdriver-if you are ok with it, you are MORE than welcome to take my Z out, it won't be your T1 but hey, price is right. THSCC might go for it if I sign a second driver sheet.

Mike ... No, I can't make it
Leslie makes a point about ride possibilities.
Find Leslie, and betcha you'll know several others before the day ends
