No, Mike ... it's open to the first forty or so registrants; priority to Corvettes. Last year they did two on the Jefferson Circuit; this year - big track. They usually have a half dozen non-corvettes - camaros, mustangs, bmw, acura, etc.
Last Nov a guy showed up in a black C6z with 260 miles on it. Dave Walters, veteran from CVCC was his instructor ... he let Dave drive it with owner as passenger ... made him physically sick! (and this was on the Jefferson!)
I recieved an e-mail from a couple of you so I thought I could help out by clearing a few things up for you.
You do not need to be a member of NVCC to run. As long as your car passed our tech inspection you are ok.
We would love to have some of you people out to run with us at this event. What better way to play hookie on a Monday! Right?
Also as a bonus we are having a sessions on the skid pad also if you wish to take your car on it. If you haven't been on it, it's an absolute blast!
You can downlaod the registration form and the pre-tech form at www.nvcorvetteclub.com . Just mail in the payment to the address on the form and fill out the pre-tech form and bring it with you to the track to give to the tech officals.
Ahhh, the Summit Point skidpad. A cone, with sprinklers, and 1985 ex-police Chevy Caprice's, with about 6 inches of play in the steering. What a trip this is, real skill test, and humbler too.
Doing the skidpad in my Z06 could be really fun too.
I've done it a couple times in my car and it's a lot funner in your own vehicle. I actually seen one guy get around that thing 16 times sideways and never lose momentum! By using your own car it also makes you more aware of your surroundings.
I'm not sure if I'd want my car on the skidpad for fear of excessive wear-n-tear - but I'm not sure why. When I think about it, it probably is easier on the car than full speed laps around the main circuit.
What do you guys think?
Also, I've been told that I need to go get a fire extinguisher. Any suggestions on one that could mount in my C6 without drilling a bunch of holes?

Skidpad is relatively smooth ... no serious scrubbing of tires. Less than you'll get on turns 5-6-7 on the track.
If you have a manual passenger seat, as the c5Z's do, you can attach the mount to the seat adjuster bar on the front of the seat. (slit a length of correct ID rubber hose and hose-clamp the mount to it)
I would get a brey Krause seat mount for the fire extinguisher.
No drilling required and you can take it out when you're done if you want. Call OG Racing and ask for Jason. I do recomend that you get the extinguisher at Lowes or HD though. Around $15-20.
