Acceleration test with 01 and 02 Z06.

We had just completed the install of a Vararam on my friends 2002 Z06. Other than that his car is stock. My car is a 2001 Z06 with a Blackwing and Stainless works LT's.

We decided in the interest of science to do some street start acceleration tests. So what did we find out? Well, the 2002 is one fast ass car from the factory. We both had similar amounts of "ballast" in the car but whoever got the jump held it until we let off, sometimes reaching 140mph. We did this twice with similar results.

Conclusion: if you have a 2001, a 2002 will blow your doors off. I am sure without my headers I'd have been looking at taillights as I gained 23rwhp with them. This power difference surely would have been amplified the higher the speed. Meaning from light to light may not be noticeable but on high speed runs it would show.

I hope this info is useful to someone.

Joe

Too bad you couldn't come to the Can Am caravan thisweekend Frank, it's going to be a blast.

Quickdoc, I know it is a no brainer comparo BUT I wouldn't have beleived 20 HP can make such a big difference. Glad I got the headers though. Next is a cam and I should pull away.
