Amsoil service is top notch... no more wally world for me!

For a long time I've run Amsoil in the trans/dif but Mobil 1 in the motor becuase "I can get it at Walmart". Well... Amsoil's service is so fast it takes far more effort for me to get Mobil 1.

Yesterday at work I ordered 12 quarts of their Euro formula 5w40 and a new EAO filter online... well today I got home from work and there's a large Amsoil box on my doorstep.

Last time I ordered trans/dif fluids it was the same but I figured it may have been a fluke. Today at work I wondered if the fluid might allready be there... and it was

Thank you Amsoil

I guess it depends where you live in relation to available stores to buy from in person. I can drive 2 blocks and buy everything I need to tune/oil change all 7 of my vehicles and be back home in 20 minutes which is way faster than waiting a day on shipping. LOL

I don't think I'm stealing the thread, because you're just telling us how good the service is, but I've been thinking about switching everything to Amzoil. Are there any considerations as far as my factory warranty goes?

I probably should do a search, but I'll ask anyway...

I have 18K miles on m y '04... is there any problelm with switching everything over now?

What about the additive for the LSD, does this work as well with Amzoil? Do they have their own LSD additive?

While I have your attention, what weights would you guys in the know, recommend for the engine, tranny, diff? I don't track my Z at all.

TIA

Engine - 5w40 european formula (oil weight not warranty compliable)
Trans - Amsoil Dextron III synthetic ATF (warranty compliable)
Dif - 75w90 severe duty gear oil with a few ounces of GM limited slip additive (warranty compliable)

I just switched my 04 to the GM Syncromesh synthetic in the tranny at the 30,000 mile service. My service writer said no problem making the change. He has never led me wrong before. Shifts better now, even with my new Hurst Billet/Plus shifter (with the lightest springs installed).

I order my Amsoil through Subdriver. My experience has been the same. I get it the next day.

For SoCal, I think they ship from Fresno or AZ, so delivery is quick. I imagine it is the same for most other markets as they seem to have a number of warehouses.

I am also proud to be able to support the racing efforts of Subdriver even if it is in a small way by buying Amsoil. Privateer racers need all the support they can get, plus he deserves our help for all he contributes to us by sharing his racing, pit and car performance experiences!

Come to think of it, I need to put together another order soon....

Brian,
Thanks for the positive endorsement and support. Oli, thanks again for the support and positive comments as well. I truely appreciate them.

For all those interested in AMSOIL, please drop me an email, c66racing@hotmail.com, or PM, so I can explain the benefits of the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program, some of which I can't share in a national forum due to AMSOIL advertising policies.

In answer to your questions, I'd say the answer depends... which is why I don't mind trading emails, PMs or phone calls with my customers.

AMSOIL makes several oils which do meet the owners manual requirement for an oil meeting GM Standard 4718M, but... if you track your car, or is your car is out of warranty, these oils might not be the best choice. For example, I use AMSOIL Series 2000 20w50 for its high HTHS rating, but this oil clearly does not meet owner's manual requirements of a 30 weight.

Given your car is an 04 under warranty and you don't track it:
These are the two best AMSOIL products meeting GM Standard 4718M:
AMSOIL Series 2000 0w30
AMSOIL SAE Synthetic 5w30

The 5w30 is roughly equivalent to the new Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 (which does not meet GM Standard 4718M) and is probably suitable for the vast majority of daily drivers including yourself.

This is the tranny fluid which meets owners manual requirement for a GM Dexron III fluid (and I use this in my car):
AMSOIL ATF

This is the diff fluid which meets the owners manual requirements (and again the one I use in my car):
AMSOIL Severe Gear Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75w90
This fluid comes with friction modifier in it and doesn't need an extra bottle. However, AMSOIL states that if your diff chatters, it is safe to add a bottle of the AMSOIL Slip-Lock Differential Additive. Very few of my customers need this. My diff does not chatter and I don't use it.

AMSOIL just released a line of new line of oil filters, AMSOIL Ea Oil Filter, that use a new nanofiber technology developed in cooperation with some of the heavyweights in the filtration industry including Donaldson and Wix. These filters are rated for one year or 15k miles of use. While I am using one in my wife's Chevy Trailblazer, I'm not sure they have high enough flow for racing applications, so I am currently not using one in my car. Correct part number for the LS1/LS6 and LS2 motors is EAO32 (same one my wife's Chevy Trailblazer takes as it has a 5.3L V-8 in it).

Ordering info is in my sig which should be too hard to find on this forum.

Any sales via the AMSOIL Online Store, including the AMSOIL link on the left, which use reference number 1206638, will be credited to my dealership, benefiting my race team and the forum. As an FYI, long time forum member DJWORM assists me while I am... uh... unavailable. His dealer reference number is 1289001. If DJ has helped you with some technical advice in the past, please feel free to use his dealer reference as a small way to repay him. Sales via him also benefit me and the forum.

Brad... crap I got the new filter b/c I thought it'd be "better" than the K&N I was running. I remember the thread you posted in comparing multiple filters to the new EA line. What filter would you reccomend running for high RPM applications adnd 6/8k oil change intervals?

Well, I wouldn't recommend the same filter for 6-8K changes and the track...

The new EAO32 filter is very suitable for spirited daily driving and 6-8k oil changes. It may be suitable for the track, but I don't know. I'd suggest that you continue to use a high flowing filter such as your K&N at the track. I personally wouldn't run my oil for a track weekend, then use it for 6-8k miles. Oil is cheap (relatively), motors are not.

Actually wouldn't be too hard to change out the filter after a DE though which would drain about half a quart and help you get out the quart over you should run at the track.

Im sorry, i wasnt meaning to shoot Amsoil down with my comments. The great oil debate will go on till the end of time. And if there was truly 1 oil better than all the others then everyone would be using it because all the testing would definatly lean towards only 1 oil period.

I normally change the oil before each DE so it's fresh... I only go 6-8k if it's easy miles.

Is the K&N a higher flowing oil filter?
