I got the white 50th Anniv of Corvette book and I have been reading it for the past few days. I have noticed some errors in it and was somewhat dissapointed in the lack of Technical information. The pictures are great and there is some really good reading information there but it just doesnt meet my expectations. I kinda feel like the book was made for someone that doesnt quite know much about Vettes so they didnt get too technical to not confuse the person reading.
Overall I would say its good to read and put on display or store away for collection purposes.
Who has the book and what are your opinions.
Thanks.

Yes, I just received the book as a gift. I believe this book has been "OKed" by GM so I imagine that the writing is bent a little towards more PC than hard truths. I am also a bit dissapointed in the writing but certainly not in the photography. Too bad, I was looking to really get inside the Corvette with as much attention paid to the engineering aspect as well as the aesthetics. It could still happen, I'm not very deep into the book yet, but I doubt it.
I received one too for Christmas and read the whole thing in a couple of days. I also was amazed at the number of errors that I found and I am by no means up on all vette models. However, it does have lots of good pictures and does tell "the story" fairly well.
I received the 50th Corvette book for Christmas too, in just skimming through it, I have found quite a few errors. One of the errors was showing a '99 hardtop as a Z06. A friend of mine got a different Corvette book from his wife, and that too had errors in it (quoting wrong HP) You would think the authors and editors would get it right!

Yup - got one at the dealer a couple of months ago, gave it to my deaughter and said - This would make a lovely gift under the tree for someone like me - there it was Christmas morning !
So - shall we start to document the errors - Yes the FRC was given a Z06 byline. The 98 Pace car has chrome wheels and no graphics on the side .......I wish they would document correct cars because this book will be used as a reference in the future. The Z06 that is shown on the inside front cover also has chromies - incorrect for future restorers...........

I purchased one as well & was disappointed by the errors. One of the most glaring was the part where they say 1972 was the last year of the L-82!! These books (most of them anyway) come sealed in shrinkwrap. If you get one and have hopes of it becoming 'collectible', do yourself a favor & don't open it! My feeling is if you wait long enough for this book to become a 'collectors item', you'll be too old to enjoy the $$$ you sell it for!

I don't have the 50th book, and am disappointed to hear there were several erros in it.
I have purchased Zora's bigoraphy by Jerry Burton, and Corvette from The Inside by Dave McClelland. Even though I haven't read these books yet, I'll bet they are right on....why? Because they are written by "Corvette" guys!
