Anyone receive recall notices from GM ??

With all the problems discussed on this forum,
Whistling exhaust, rock & roll seat, tire cupping, lights dimming,
rear axle leaks, shifting & trans problems and the list goes on.
I have not received one single recall bulletin from the general.
Fortunately, I have only experienced the rock & roll seat so far.
Can someone tell me why no recalls on a $50K + car ???

I've been through a 01' Lemon Law Coupe and a 02' Z06 with a
transmission being rebuilt two months after purchase and that replace two months later.... Never one notice...

Not a problem here! Other than having to change out the worn tires!

jrd, Yo Bud.......

We will never get recall notices on the Z's, unless it is Emissions related, or a saftey hazard...

The cost is far too great for GM to do it......

So, keep your eyes pealed, and make written notes of everything.....

Make sure you get a dealer to acknowledge your list, and make every effort to get them to furnish you a written recipt....acknowledging your concerns.....

If they will not do this, then YOU make a list, and mail it RETURN recipt requested, and Insured, and addressed to the Service Dept Supervisor...a dupe, should be sent to the Owner of the dealership, and the GM Customer Service addy....all the same way.....signed recipts.

BEFORE it goes out of warrranty........

No recalls here either,

My 02' had a head light motor go out (no big deal and replaced under warranty) my 03' right wiper won't stay pulled out to clean windshield (no big deal, just got2 find time to take it in). I think recalls are done when there is a major problem with a particular GM supplier. This has not happened, especially for our Race Cars. Best freaking car even if it is a 50k + Vette, instead of a lesser value more headaches car, no names please.

Jrd:

I've had 4 new C5's and have had a grand total of only two reasons to return them to the dealer, one was a rear seal leak, and the other a faulty windshield washer pump switch. Both replaced under warranty.

Very happy with the quality and reliabilty of the C5!!!

I have had no recalls either. BUT I just received a notice from
Acura for my 2003 3.2 CL that says they are extending my automatic transmission and converter warranty for 7 years 100,000 miles due to some workmanship or material problems they have found.
YOU WOULD NEVER GET ANYTHING LIKE THAT FROM GM.
What do you mean" the cost would be to great"

4500 hard miles on my 01, I would say at least 500 miles strictly road course. No troubles, no oil consumption other than when I am at the track. I had a late build 01, purchased in May.

well until last night i only had the "rock -n- roll" seat. usually when i slow down for a light or stop sign the seat shifts forward.

then last night i coulda swore my lights dimmed for a second. never happened again and i thought maybe i hit a dip in the road, which would make my lights appear to dim. now i read about it here. DDAAAMMMNNNNIIITTTTT you guys are killin' me! guess i gotta go do a search for "dimming lights"

226,,
Is your Acura a 3.2 TL "S" Type???
I have an '02, and my tranny has madfe clunking/clanking BS noises since day UNO........
Was there any particular reason they sent this to YOU?>
Or was it a general mailing on '03's...?

On the "cost would be too great", comment.........

Take for instance, say.....OIL CONSUMPTION......

On ALL '99-'01 & now '02 LS1's, and LS6's.....

To issue a general RECALL, to replace ALL the rings in ALL the cars with these motors would sink the Titanic.........

So, they instead take them on a bitch by bitch basis.........

When, in reality, ALL of them need to be reworked.........

This is what I meant........

Others include,

Column Lock Syndrome
Oil Pump Loctite
Door Control Modules
Exhaust "chain" Rattle
Etc..................

And the beat goes on...........

Some of these issues have been present on the C5's since INCEPTION.........

And GM, has NOT taken corrective measures, or recall notices.....

They on occasion send out TSB's to DEALERS............

But, you will never know about it unless you come to the NET Vette sites, ......

Or, encounter THAT particular anomaly.........
