Hello all, I just bought an iPod today and I was wondering how to hook it up to the radio. The owner's manual didn't help any. What, if any, hardware do I need? Thanks in advance!
Thanks guys! It says that it will not work with my car though, do they know what they are talking about? Haha. And when I looked at the links in the thread it said the products were discontinued.
EDIT: I found the product. $150 is kind of steep, but hopefully it's worth it!
Read the link posted by YumaZ06. Within that link is a link to another site with installation instructions. Also checkout Marks site. He has a good write up too. After I installed my iPod adapter I had problems with my head unit not recognizing my iPod. I applied Mark's fix to power off the iPod when ignition is off and now it works just fine every time. This solution also fixed the battery drain issue I was having with the adapter.
^^^What Konomi said. I did my install a short while after him and the quick (cut & splice) mod to the harness was a very smart move to help prevent battery drain when the car is off and the ipod is plugged in. $150 is a bit steep, but the equipment works pretty good and is all plug & play, with exception to the quick mod to help prevent battery drain. My only complaint with the equipment is that the head unit buttons do not control the ipod very well (especially in shuffle mode). With the ipod in shuffle mode, it just cycles between the first 10 songs on your shuffle list over and over. Your better off changing songs thru the ipod IMHO
I installed a USA Spec Vette adapter recently. Very easy install with out the need to remove the factory radio. All plug and play. They also have great tech support.

Everything I find about the product mentioned is for C6 vettes.
Well I got the kit in but it turns out that I need a harness that is discontinued. WTF. Haha. So I have to return this kit. I have no idea how I'm going to do this now, I'd rather stay away from the FM transmitter. A guy from Crutchfield is about to call me back, I'll see if we can sort it out.

Yeah, the FM transmitters are staticy. Very poor quality sound. I returned mine the same day that I bought it.
$150 for an ipod adaptor is highway robbery (even for an Apple product)! I'd just spend the money on a new aftermarket head unit and be done with it.
I ordered the kit again with the PXHGM4 harness and it worked. I'm happy with it. Now I need to modify the PXHGM4 harness to where it wont charge the iPod when the car is off and so the box wont draw current from the battery even when the iPod is unpluged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Just pick up a PDAUX3W-CL2, it can be purchased online from a number of websites. It powers USB devices and also supports the factory 12-pack shuttle. Plug and play, all the guys I have seen at the clubs & events are running this one. Cheers, Ron
When I hear the features of a new car and listed among them is the iPod adapter, I always laugh. Imagine, buying this car, instead of that car, because of the iPod hookup. When I think of someone deciding to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a car because of the adapter for a 150 dollar device, I know I'm in the twenty first century.
And, yeah, the fm thing doesn't work well. I just listen to one cd at a time, sorry, "Spidee fans"
