I'm one of the weird ones... I like the FRC body style both with, and without the BSM. Without them the side of the car assumes an almost Italian look. Kind of like the old Pina Farina body stiles from the 70s. On the other hand, I like them if they are there. Kind of adds a sporty look.
When I bought my FRC, it was "Pre-owned", and it came with them. I like the general body style so much that it wasn't worth the hassle to remove them. It is much like carrying a jacket on a questionably cool/warm day. I know I can put the jacket on or take it off, if I have it along.
Man! This is getting too complicated for my day off!

Like Dan said above, I don't care either way. My car came with them on and I don't think I want to remove them. On the other hand if they weren't on my car I wouldn't miss them either.
I voted for the 1st choice because there is no choce to match my opinion - I don't care about the presence or absence of the BSM.
I have them and ordered them on the car. I prefer the stock location over the altered. Last year at the factory, they placed the bsm's on the car after the body was assembled. This year they apply them on the doors and fender before assembly.

Zippy, I'm sure with a little lighter fluid we could make the Z look a whole lot better . You could always stick them back on if/when you wanted to .

To me they detract from the lines of the car. In the pictures,if you line it up with the upper body line,it clashes with thelower. And vice versa. I can't even tell which is in the "stock"position. Both look right to me.
ps If I had to have them, the top picture looks better
